So you think you can beat this? 53 in a 30 is pretty bad. On a highway that would be like 106 in a 60, for which you might well be arrested and spend the night in jail. Going that fast in a local is going to completely
Mod cut: languagethe judge (who lives there and feels an obligation to protect the community from the likes of you). The judge will also take the cops word against yours.
Are you actually guilty as charged? If so a lawyer isn't likely to be of much help, though they'll say they will be cause they want their fee. About the only way to win a speeding ticket is on a technicality. Maybe a lawyer can find one in your case, but don't count on it unless you really aren't guilty. You might hope for a reduction in the charge (like 49 in a 30 or whatever).
Unless you beat this completely your insurance WILL go up, as well it should. Depending on your record you might get your license suspended.
The court fee is the least of it. Pick up the phone, call the town clerk and ask them.
