As much as we've moved around, Ive had lots of week-long McJobs. Two of the states we lived in were Vermont and Florida where there is no real work at all. Low-pay, short-term service work is all there is. I did some crazy jobs just to get by!!! I would say about a week for me, for a few. A printing establishment in Florida would be the most short term. I got spoiled by living in the north east were I only had real, great jobs, so I would just walk out of a job for many different reasons. Abusive bosses, pre-hire terms not being adhered to, etc. After being a professional job hunter for about six years, I have a lot of empathy for people who cant find real work. Its a different world out there for we workers
1.5 days, left at lunch the second day and didn't return -- called to let them know, though. Second-shortest would be one week before I quit. If I know I'm not going to be happy somewhere, no sense dragging it out.
11 months, unless you count when I worked for Manpower in college. Even then there was only one job where I asked not to be sent back after one day. It was at a meat packing plant, and the supervisors were downright abusive.

There was one in 2009 when I was getting desperate, that I never really started. I guess you could say 2 hours. I went to the training session that paid $40, then the next day, before I was assigned to the first shift I got a call with an offer for a job I really wanted, which I accepted. Over double the pay. Close to a year later when I did my taxes I got a W-2 for the $40 and had to include it.
I got a temp assignment to set up Christmas displays. I finished after 6 hours, and the client signed my timecard for 8 hours. It was a stress free job, while it lasted.

Either you quit or you were fired, what is the shortest time you held a position?
For me, 1 day. This was at a LifeFoam factory (they produce white foam coolers) after day #1 I quit.
It was actually my very first job. "Teaching" 2 year olds at a day care center. It was horrific. I couldn't imagine any person who would put their child in that type of environment. I couldn't bear to go back the second day.
Six months. I assumed GM functions of a company heading for closure. I stayed to the end.
