I'd probably question the receptionists overall smarts and would find a new receptionist. I need a receptionist who is able to think.

This ^ . There's a lot of good discussion in this thread. That is why the thread is still open. Someone's membership status or intention has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand.

People, remember that calling out a member and repeatedly posting off-topic can earn you hefty infractions.

Do they think their pay is based on their age?

No, they believe that a degree entitles them to greater pay, regardless of the job.

That is classism. They can't get higher pay if they are doing the exact same job.

A degree is not needed to work in fast food, behind the counter or as a cook. Maybe as a manager, but that's about it.

Uh, yeah. That was kind of the point of my posts.

I have a hard time believing this is real as both numbers seem low. OP where are you located? I don’t know many accountants near me who make less than 90. Or receptionists who accept less than 35. But at any rate if she is unhappy she can either negotiate for a higher salary or move on.

This is also why I have no problem with old posts getting resurrected while other people complain about it. The topics are still relevant today.

An accountant making 75k is normal. But 25k is unfairly low even for a receptionist

By whose definition of "unfair"? She agreed to work there for that! If it was between that and NO job, is it still unfair?
