NY Jew

In Barcelona, we have Kosher butcheries, Kosher wineries, Synagogues and a medieval Jewish quarter with no Jews since the XIVth Century. No delis but Israeli restaurants (I don't like them). There's a market for true delis. Spain is the nation more accepting of Jews in Western Europe, the only problem are Morrocans, but they are also a problem for everybody. A quite important part of the population is ethnically Jewish, forced converts, "the dead branch".

I'm not well travelled, but I do feel a need to understand why difference in people often creates discomfort or fear in others.
I tend to become agitated when I sense an aire of injustice is evident when no valid criteria is immediately present.
We all are uncomfortable or fearful of difference or unusual behaviour. Be it race, religion, flamboyance, outspoken opinion, unusual dress or public displays of any sort that attract attention. The mind is hard-wired to be wary in order to preserve the comfort and sanctuary of the individual self. Yet each and everyone of us have behaviours that we practice in degrees of excess or moderation beyond the public eye.
That being said, I think those beyond the comfort of the faceless, nameless populace would feel most comfortable in Canada. Our Conservatives are just slightly less charitable liberals. We embrace diversity and generally love to learn about each other and we have a lot of baggage. In other words, we're nosey in a respectful sort of way and we love to talk about ourselves, if it's not an imposition, or if you're interested, if you have the time, sorry, I didn't mean to impose...

Relatively new countries like Australia, Canada and United States depended on immigration so they had an advantage on tolerance.

I find this poll results a surprise. Most of western Europe is pretty tollerant, but the USA??????. The PC stuff is overwhelming in the US. The controling aspect in matters of sexuality, morality, nudity etc are everywhere.

UK and Canada overall, by far. USA is awesome in Cali, NY, DC or Chicago. But swathes of "middle America" are backward in their thinking and narrow minded.

UK is amazingly tolerant. Canada too save Alberta (lulz).

Exactly. You have all seen the memes depicting the 'real America' and 'dumb****istan'. Besides the coastal regions, it is all labelled "dumb****istan".
