Trust me. Sushi and anime aren't exactly flying off the shelves in sub-saharan Africa and the middle east. Germany had a relatively small but significant colonial presence in Africa and is still a big investor and provider of technical expertise there.

Japan trades over whelmingly with other developed nations. Japan is late to the game when it comes to investing in developing countries, particularly in Africa. Even South Korea seems to be way ahead of Japan. I've seen way more Hyundais and Kias in developing countries than Toyotas(notwithstanding the omnipresent Hiluxes) and there is a lot of construction projects backed by Koreans all over the developing world.

Why are you taking this so personally? I am not attacking Japan. It is a very influential country but it's influence is largely confined to the developed world. How many African, South Asian, and Middle Eastern Immigrants are beating down the Japanese embassies' doors trying to get visas to live/work in Japan? Compare that to the demand for the countries I listed(excluding China of course). That says a lot about a countries influence.

But Japan has sushi and anime...

Regular bookstores here have manga lined up all against the walls here in the malls even in Podunk, PA. I also heard that France is the next largest consumer of Japanese anime/manga in the world. German cultural exports in North America probably amounted to just, probably no more than $100 million, and that is being extremely generous. Japanese stuff makes billions in the US, I honestly think a lot of white people seem to be ignorant, or deny, that Asia has infiltrated more into our countries than we like to admit.
We're not being ignorant, just observant - anime and manga are very niche areas, and they're not mainstream. People who read and watch that stuff are probably nerdy teenagers who don't socialise regularly.

Sorry if it upsets anyone, but Japanese culture has no significant impact here. German culture doesn't really either. French and Italian culture certainly do, however.

Thats what my experience has been with them. I know one girl and she carries a rucksac to school as a schoolbag.

Sushi can be good, it's not my favourite food, but yeah I appreciate sushi when it's done well.

Perhaps but some people may not be aware of how extensive and large the trade relationship is between the two.

I don't think Canada features that much for most Americans considering it's their bigger neighbour to the north.

Um but is it not clear?

I mean British people share a strong relationship with the Irish. I mean surely your neighbour would be your biggest trading partner.
