China, on the assumption that the average joe prefer land > water, hills over flat land, and subtropical over continental or tropical climates. The mountains of China blow Europe or N America and especially Africa out of the water.
yeah just a pity Indonesia has tropical climate and doesn't have snow like other western countries
Snow capped mountains are nice and freshly fallen snow on your house and yard looks nice. However snow turns to dirty slush and generally makes places look pretty ****ty.
The US, simply by virtue of its sheer size and the variety of its terrain.
However, New Zealand is my sentimental favorite.
Variety is not the only piece of the puzzle. The Edwards Plateau in Central Texas is unique, but it's not that scenic or somewhere you'd go out of your way to go hike. If the US hadn't logged and farmed and grazed so much of it's acreage, it'd be a higher contender. But there's so many beautiful pieces of the globe to compare against.
C-D knows the US, most are probably clueless to China or Russia or Mozambique, so they can't compare. Russia has their entire Pacific Northeast basically preserved as one giant wilderness whereas the Pacific Northwest in the US has been very extensively modified and cleared, and it has no tigers and leopards and sturgeon and giant owls.
