A very good example is Russia.....on simple GDP terms, it is the 12th economy in the world where the US is #1 and everybody ridicule Russia economy compared to the US in the current Russophobic environment in the media...but look at the PPP and the situation changes dramatically (IMF data source).....US slides to #2 behind China, and Russia is #6, actually ahead of many industrialized nations (ahead of UK or France and way ahead of Canada).

If you produce a fighter jet or a nuclear reactor at a fraction of the cost of an American fighter jet or nuclear reactor you still have a fighter jet or a nuclear reactor in your hands....
It doesn't matter, as the top 1% owns almost everything in Russia. The average net salary in Russia is less than €500 a month. No matter what the price level is, that is very little.

And neither does GDP (PPP) mean anything internationally, as GDP (PPP) is only for the domestic market.

Russia, supposedly so cheap, has still been unable to produce a top-attack ATGM. Even if a fighter cost less to produce in Russia, it's not even close to the technology of the West.

No, this kind of underclass doesn't exist in Europe.
So, you agree America has enough problems among its own citizens as it is. We need to focus on improving their lives. We don’t need to aggravate the situation by accepting even more underclass people from foreign countries that don’t even speak English.

You're on a good path, as the number of illegal immigrants is slowly dropping according to Pew Research. And not the influx, but the total number of illegals.

Inequality is another matter and Russia is not the only one with that problem.

Wrong.....excluding the F-22 class (which is atrociously expensive, has its fair share of problem and still relatively unproven in combat) Russian planes are actually excellent and the new fifth generation SU-57 is promising.

Russia has a lot of work to do in the Navy, not so much Air Force.

You mean the F-35? The F-22 has already stopped production and has been fully operational for years.

Let's see what the Su-57 comes up to. It's still in its prototype stage and we'll see if it comes to anything.

The SU-57 is supposed to be a direct competitor to the F-22 (Russia original plan is a 160 run in actual production number) not the F-35 which is still unproven too in combat....and plagued by problems.

Sub full 5th generation Russian planes are excellent and they pioneered and mastered thrust vectoring.

Sure, sure. But the US has had an operational 5th generation fighter for many years, while Russia tries to keep a supposedly 5th gen fighter in the air for five minutes.

The US and its European and Asian allies have 70% of the world's GDP and knowledge in their disposal. Russia has the GDP of Canada and all its allies are low-technology developing nations.

This is a pipe dream, and you know it. If Trump does figure out a way to stop illegal immigration (which he won't), there is absolutely zero chance that he will try to improve our healthcare. Because let's be honest, Trump doesn't give a crap about Americans, this is a big joke to him

Russia mastered thrust vectoring years before the west did, so....sometimes you are ahead and sometimes you are behind.

Again, taking GDP alone as a measure is very misleading....and a Russia-China alliance (we are starting to see them moving in that direction) would be formidable....

Russia and China do not want to compete militarily with the US head-to-head...all they want and need is contain US military adventurism with credible military deterrence in their sphere of influence. Russia ending of Syria campaign (it showed a cost effective projection of power and very sophisticated diplomatic skills) is a watershed moment and it may historically mark Russia de-facto return as a world power.
Ukraine is where Russia said "Enough is enough", a red line of sort.

Now, Russia need a serious overhaul of their Navy, increasing significantly its blue water capabilities..... the 4 aircraft carrier battle groups planned (project 23000 E, the Shtorm class) were going in that direction but well known budget issues slowed the program....so they are forced to keep that floating POS, the Admiral Kuznetsov, around for quite longer....

Australia does offer lifestyle choices that are far wider than the average person would ever seriously consider; corporate Sydney, alternative lifestyle and hippy coastal towns, farm and agriculture based towns, outback towns, historic and quiet Tasmania, tropical centres with unique population and social mixes, locals that are socially progressive and others that are distinctly conservative, .................

True it does have the opportunities, or competition for them, of the US.
