One thing that always annoys me is people who can't spell place names or famous people's names that they get to see in writing a lot. How hard is it to copy?
- One of my acquaintances kept bragging about her "Myrtal Beach" vacation, before, during and after said vacation. Not once did she spell it "Myrtle".
- On celebrity FB pages, people writing "I'm your biggest fan, got all your CDs, blah blah"... and then they spell the name wrong (Lots of Alan Jackson fans call him Allen, for instance).

This may sound silly to some of you, but it drives me nuts.

I am going to try and be gentile with you because you made a sincere effort to express the way you feel.

How about people who can't correctly pronounce the names of celebrities whose names they have probably heard correctly pronounced thousands of times?

I used to know a woman who told anyone who would stand still for a few moments that she is, "the world's biggest Barbra Streiststrand fan".
Really?
You claim to be her biggest fan, but you mangle the pronunciation of her name by inserting extra consonants into it...?

Back in the days when the Governor of NJ was Brendan Byrne, a surprising percentage of the population insisted on referring to him as Brendan Bryan. How can you hear newscasters repeatedly pronouncing that name correctly, but not be able to replicate that pronunciation?

I agree with you! It kills me too.

Yes, "regiment" and "regime" are often erroneously used instead of "regimen."

People talking about their exercise "regime," so many times I've seen that written.
Please stop! I can't take it anymore!!!

A professional person once wrote that I have a gentile sense of humor. I yearned to tell him that I fully understand my Jewish sister-in-law's jokes, but since he'd only used the wrong word, he wouldn't have known what I meant. Besides my sense of humor is not necessarily gentle.
