"America the Beautiful, or so you used to be..."

Posted 08-11-2008 at 03:43 PM by Kristynwy (Quote from Ben Franklin)

The following is a poem written by Judge Roy Moore from Alabama. Judge Moore was sued by the ACLU for displaying the Ten Commandments in his courtroom foyer. He has been stripped of his judgeship and now they are trying to strip his right to practice law in Alabama! The judge's poem sums it up quite well, when I first read this poem it brought tears to my eyes. Definitely humbling.

America the beautiful,
or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims' pride;

Long Live Liberty...

If you are relocating to Southwest Florida and just aren't sure where to settle down, perhaps you should consider North Port.

Really, North Port is in the perfect location along interstate 75, it's just far enough away from the big cities to shield us from the high crime-rate and city slums, but close enough to them where traveling is a breeze. It's closest major city is Sarasota, which is well-known for it's shopping and arts culture. Further north are even larger cities, St. Petersburg...

The Veteran

Posted 08-11-2008 at 04:21 AM by GCSTroop

He walked down the road in no real direction except for that in which he was headed. He walked as if he were tired and without the knowledge of what would come next. His blue eyes once full of life now had a look of despair and hurt as they scanned the road he walked upon with the little strength he had from his last meal.

Life had once been wonderful to...
