Just watched the episode where she went hunting and went on and on about how Alaskans hunt to fill their freezers.
She was hunting 600 miles north of her home.
What I was curious about is how many Alaskans actually do this?
Not the hunting I mean but the taking the flight north to camp, hopping another plane to get to where one can hunt?
I hunt and fish to fill my freezer, and I know a lot of other Alaskans who do the same. I do not travel 600 miles to hunt or fish, but I do drive about 450 miles round trip. Ninilchik is where I like taking the first Kings on opening day, and it is about 225 miles from Wasilla. I also hunt caribou just north of Gakona, south of Paxson off the Richardson Highway, about 180 miles from Wasilla.

It would not surprise me to learn that the halibut charters I have taken out of Homer, when you include both vehicle and vessel miles amounted to 600 or more miles round trip.

The only flight I have taken was a charter out of Anchorage for a three day fishing trip at the Lake Creek and Yetna River confluence.

I have also taken numerous riverboat charters, sometimes fishing for Silvers, and other times just to save me a week of hiking through the bush.

I have been watching for the spectacular vistas. I am a typical lower stater

My question on the hunting trip is what would you do with your meat on an over nighter in a flat area like that? No place to hang it from, how do you protect it?

I've been pumped up and taken a few shots to take a deer.
I have to give her and the dad and the other fellow the endurance points cause it looked like they were walking on soft ground.

I use a game bag.

I just watched this last weeks show. You can tell with out any doubt, Palin has never been into any type of tundra. She have been hunting before, but not anywhere where she was this time. Many of the things she has been doing during this show are for the first time.
And, some of the things she says about people in the lower 48 are down right insulting. She needs to be shut-up!

What did she say about people in the lower 48? I can't watch for fear of what might happen to my tv.

It was part of the preview for next weeks camping trip. She said that people in the lower 48 have no idea what real camping is. Bull****! That's what I call an insult.
You can be just as remote in the a lot of the lower 48 as you can here in AK.
