The jacket at the convention was Valentino. $$$$ The new stylist is doing a great job with her. The politics aren't my cup of tea but the newer polished look is very chic. I like it. Its nice to see a feminine woman in that field instead of the dried up crone look.

Here's a news story on Palin & the Y'upik people, among others. I read this & thought of Forrest Gump saying, "Stupid is as stupid does..."

The Bristol BayTimes - Tracking Palin’s opposition to Native rights

Stupid link... You may have to copy/paste it.

That wasn't a news story, that was an opinion piece. The last paragraph in the article says it all:

Quote:
Lloyd Miller and Heather Kendall Miller each practice law in Anchorage, representing Native American interests. The views expressed here are theirs alone, and do not necessarily reflect the views of their respective employers or their clients.
Gee, a Governor who actually stands up and fights for the rights of ALL Alaskans and the State Constitution. What a novel concept!

No...although this paragraph doesn't quite say it all, it says a great deal. She actually did try to mess with subsistence. It's a matter of public record.

Quote:
As soon as Palin was sworn in as governor she set a firm course against Native subsistence rights. One of her very first decisions was to continue litigation that seeks to overturn every subsistence fishing determination the federal government has ever made in Alaska. The goal of Palin’s lawsuit (now known as Alaska v. Kempthorne) is to invalidate all the subsistence fishing regulations the federal government has ever issued to protect Alaska Native fishing in navigable waters. If successful, Palin’s attack would move every subsistence issue into the courts and thus tie up Alaska Native subsistence for generations. The reason is no secret: to diminish subsistence fishing rights in order to expand sport and commercial fishing.

The editorial cited Palin's record on this issue. Did you not know that?

Is the lawsuit something that the writers of the editorial just made up then?

Why is it so important to destroy native cultures? Is the lure of money that strong? What a damn shame.
