No taxes would be the best, but it will never happen, and a flat tax a second best. Lets say that we have a 10% flat tax that applies to all tax payers, rich and poor. In this case (I will use very low numbers to illustrate): a person who earns $100.00 would pay $10.00, and a richer person who earns $400.00 would pay $40.00. It's that simple.
.

The problem with articles like this, so common in our self-serving corporate media, is that it ignores the real question: the ability to pay.

When ALL taxes and fees are included and imposed against the % of income, the Middle Class pays the greatest %, followed by the poor, with the rich skating out.

FYI, corporations, institutions by and for the rich, pay the least % of Fed taxes today than at any point in our history.

Something like 50% of the Fortune 500 pukes paid zero taxes last year.

Here's the list:

Study says most corporations pay no U.S. income taxes | U.S. | Reuters

That's the punchline to the joke:

I used to work at DOD, buying stuff. I still have some contacts there and keep-up with the latest rumors.

While the Pentagon won't release the number, it is estimated that 30-50% of the spare parts for our war machine comes from (you guessed it): Red China.

Wow! I don't know whether to be impressed or horrified.

Small Business employes most Americans ever since we let the big business types move overseas and still have market access back in 1973. But the point is moot; The rich employ most of the people in Colombia, Korea, and Bangladesh, and I wouldn't want to work in any of those economies. The real question is how evenly between employers and employees the fruits of the production process are allocated.

An excellent read of our history is "America" by the late Alistair Cooke.

We've tended to slide from democracy from plutocracy in this country from time to time, and this is one of those periods now.
According to the Obama doctrine, some 90%+- of small business makes less than $250,000.00 a year that he woulldn't tax... which of course is a "Crock".

Almost any business that employees more than one or two people is going to be in excess of that amount, which is some 80% of the small businesses that employ most of us... which means that the tax that Obama is going to use to "Spread the Wealth" is going to affect all of us directly, either your boss or your company is going to pay and have to cut either jobs or services to pay for someone else to sit at home to collect a welfare check. The increased taxes aren't going to create more jobs or a market that is marginal in the first place.

Just what we need when things are looking bad, more taxes... If that won't be a deal breaker for the economy, then I have a cheap bridge to sell you...

No matter how you stack the cards, Obama is bad news...

Then the fact that we are forgetting to mention, we are at war and winning. You don't hear much on the news because it is mostly all positive now. So if we do what Obama wants and pull out and run, those that want to kill us will get a chance to regroup and then 911 will look like a "Popcorn Fart" in the next round...

That flies in the face of the facts. For example, the average American worker makes around $ 30K/yr. Secondly look at this data:

Will Obama's Tax Plan Will Cripple Small Business Owners?
From it:

"The Truth About Obama's Small Business Tax Plan
  • The overwhelming majority of small-business owners would see no increase, and in fact, sole proprietors filing on personal tax returns might even seen a decrease in taxes; and
  • Obama's tax plan proposes to raise rates on couples making more than $250,000 or singles earning more than $200,000 per year. Most small business owners do not earn enough to be affected by any tax increases.
According to the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, "several hundred thousand small business owners, at most, would have incomes high enough to be affected by the higher rates on income, capital gains and dividends that Obama proposes." That is a far cry from 23 million small business owners".

FYI, I worked with one "small business" (as defined by DOD) that employed 1,000 people and whose owners were multi-millionaires back in the 70's. Those guys have been making out like bandits over the past few decades, and it's now time to make them pay their fair share.

As for the war for oil, we lost that one to Iran as soon as we removed Saddam.

That article is just a list of who pays taxes in the US, and duplicates a lot of other tables, including one from Warren Buffet.

That's bunk. A lot of small businesses, specially family ones where three of four family members are working, can easily reach $250K. There are a lot of married couples in Alaska that make at least $150K in combined income, and they don't even have a business. And yes, it's true that a lot of people make $30-K and even less, but a married couple could double that amount very easily.

Which only enhances its validity.

Fact is, corporate America only needs the US for consumption of the goods it makes in 3rd world sweatshops.

Which is why Feingold, Dorgan, et al, have said that the Bahamian Navy (or Cayman Island Armed Forces) should be the ones to protect their foreign interests.

.

Not according to the Fed:

USATODAY.com - Average family income drops 2.3%

From it:

"From 2001 to 2004, average family income fell 2.3%, to an inflation-adjusted $70,700 from $72,400 in the 1998-2001 period. By contrast, from 1998 to 2001, average income jumped 17.3%. Median income — the midpoint of the income range — rose 1.6% to $43,200."

Note since 2004, it has also decreased.

You first say it's "bunk", and then you cite numbers that confirm it!
