It's funny, when Reagan ran for office, people criticized him for being a governor and not being from Washington. We've had many a senator run for office (including McCain) w/o being governor.

We don't have to agree... I'm just saying my piece.

yes and that was 28 years ago not to mention Reagan got much of the same flack she is getting, not so much because he was a governor but because he wasn't Washington. As for criticism for being a gov. I will certainly disagree, he did not get criticized for that. My husband was in the Reagan administration both in Calif and DC, this was not an issue when he was running, his lack of Wash experience was...

Well, yes, it was because his political experience was limited to being Gov of CA. I remember.

Obama has been nothing but a talking head. McCain and Palin are the ones with the working hands. Palin may have shot the moose but it was McCain that was eating it raw.

But was that by those who supported him or the press? If you don't know, I can tell you...

WOW, what a speech Palin made last night!!! I am SO proud of her as a woman, a mom, and an American. She has much more likability and charisma than Hillary (first female president in the making?) The entire night was energized and all the speakers were right on mark. I know of so many undecideds, independents, and even some Democrats who are now voting for McCain because of Sarah Palin. Two mavericks on one ticket....can't beat it! Thanks for sharing her, Alaska!

Now to go watch tonight's speeches.....

I'm still not sold on this. I'm watching his speach right now.
In the past a VP rode the president's coat tails, it seems in this election the roles are reversed.

I did see a report that the speech was "adjusted" to give it more of a softer feel. It didn't seem that soft to me and the adjustment must have been more about her career and some of the digs at Obama. I must say though, Obama's speech did jab at McCain, but all were based on issue and policy differences, not sophomoric remarks about props.

Also, if Palin wants her family off limits, why do they keep putting them in the public eye? Why is there an AP picture in today's papers of Bristol and boyfriend meeting McCain at the airport? Why is the boyfriend all of a sudden in every picture? You can't have it both ways. That goes for both sides. Besides, haven't politicians learned by now that putting their young kids in the spot light may not be the best idea? See young Andrew Giuliani acting goofy at his father's inauguration.

For that matter, if Palin was properly vetted by team McCain, why wasn't the boyfriend introduced when Palin was introduced as his VP pick? Only after it was leaked out that her daughter was pregnant was he welcomed into the spotlight. Team McCain/Palin put this young man in the spotlight, so it would fair game to at least be able to mention the situation.
