it is exactly what is described as "cultural Buddhism" by several atheists on CD who claim it is perfectly acceptable.
cut to the chase. it's fine for some to claim "cultural Buddhism"
but "dishonest" for others to have "cultural Catholicism."
plain and simple. pure double standard.
if he claims cultural Catholicism is "dishonest" then so too is "cultural Buddhism."
No, it is not the same.
You are INTENTIONALLY misquoting what I said. INTENTIONALLY.
Yeah, when I go to church I am leading a double life. There is a guy who is a very good friend, a retired engineer. I think we both do the same thing and when we talk we both sort of acknowledge the obvious, but we move on to another topic. Since there is no God I do not have to be pure or be a believer to take communion. However, there have been times when I let myself go and the fantasy works quite well. I actually feel great after going to mass. Then we would go out to brunch till 4:00 PM and call it a day.
I guess I could be deceiving other church goers, but who knows the pews are full of agnostics. I think I know where this is going. You guys want to crush me because I am not an all out atheist.
No, Julian. In fact, I will be give you credit for being honest about your charade, even though I think it is wrong.

so then, credit goes to Trans (or any other "cultural Buddhist") for being "honest about the charade" even though it is labeled "wrong"
"cultural Catholic" "cultural Buddhist"
same thing. same premise.
so "honest about the charade" and "thinking it is wrong" applies to both. or neither.
but it can not apply to only one.

"cultural Buddhim" and "cultural Catholic" are phrases introduced and used by atheists.
"woo" is another phrase that some atheists on this forum are fond of using. like in post above.
You stated that you are being dishonest to no one but God, if he exists. I disagree. That is all.
I agree with you. Too soon etc.
