There's another one they did with Yuja Wang which is too funny. "Aren't there enough Chinese pianists in the world?" (No racism intended. Inside joke. Better take it outside!)

She is my favorite pianist.

Thanks Kara. I thought the artificial aids for Rachmannoff was particularly clever.

Yeah, those guys are funny, particularly if you know something about classical music.

Do you like Yuja Wang? She's the one who dresses provocatively but plays like God himself.

Examples:

I have a friend, about my age, who is one of the preliminary judges for the Van Clyburn. And I asked her about Wang's (pronounced Wong) dressing like that. She said she wished she'd cover up more, but that she is a true artist. I thought it was a scam at first, but after listening to her, it's not.

A lot of that goes on in the violin world: gorgeous, provocatively dressed young women whose playing is about on the level of a good grad school recital. Not world class, but a career based on careful promotion rather than talent.

I've tried to discuss classical music on the music forum on CD, but all I ever get is crickets (i.e., silence). They're all rock and pop and the like.

Here's another:

I love the shoes, the platform stilettos, but I'd probably fall and hurt myself. I think she also cuts her own hair (which I've been doing for some time, with mixed results--but it's fun). There are numerous interviews online. One with a coup!e of her friends from Curtis is particularly nice, and shows her true, sweet character.

The spread of the coronavirus seems to be dictated by two factors; the density of the population... and the density of the population.

You got that right.

I've seen some unbelievably dumb conspiracy theory posts during this pandemic matched only by the previous flavour of the month theory that the earth is flat.

I'm not sure what it is that makes some people automatically believe anything except the actual truth.

I'd be interested to know the correlation between conspiracy theorism and theism.

I don't know that it has ever been studied, but the fervor and passion with which the typical conspiracy theorist presents his or her case, might be a substitute for religion.

I suspect that if somehow or other, all religion was vanquished from the planet, most of the formerly religious would wind up being equally stupid about something else.
