Kind of blows away the whole absurd "this isn't about discrimination" line from the bill's supporters, if an amendment explicitly stating the bill will not allow discrimination causes it to fail.

It's obviously about that.

I prefer to look at the positive signs of progress inherent in the decision of so many in power to add the anti-discrimination language to the bill, regardless of whether their motivations were respect for others or just coarse economic interest.

It looks like the House Judiciary Committee will look at this bill again on Monday. Let's pray it gets tabled again.

I have always believed that discrimination violated one of the very important principals of Christianity. So, in my admittedly limited world view, this bill is antithetical to Christian belief. Am I mistaken?

I think you've got the right idea, Ansley. I don't think the haters ever met the New Testament.

If this bill passes, it will send out a powerful signal that will be seen in the rest of the country, such as is happening now w/ Indiana. And that signal would not bode well for Georgia's future, as in our welcome mat is out for some but not all of you & we may treat some of our existing residents as 2nd class citizens while nevertheless wanting them to pay taxes to support the state.
Georgia's motto is "Wisdom, justice & moderation".

I personally feel like when you vote for or co-sign politicians who break up and divide formerly united governments...

...there should be no surprise at all when those same politicians create toxic divisive bills like the RFRA.

You don't get to pick a good side order from a lousy restaraunt without eating the whole lousy plate too.

Not much room to pick and choose with politics in Georgia.

Doesn't the constitution already equally guarantee both freedom of, and from, religion?

As a law abiding citizen, I pray that never changes (this isn't Saudi Arabia, no offense).

If the bill does include provisions that disallow discrimination or protect abusers, then it's basically symbolic and at the end of the day every dog had their say.

You are quite mistaken. Christianity is not based on touchy-feely ideas but on the word of God contained in the Bible. People of faith (not just Christians) are being threatened with jail for not participating in activities that are against their beliefs. This is simply wrong.
