There are a lot of "touchy-feely ideas" in the word of God, as others have noted. The question, it seems to me, is the extent to which you heed them or focus instead on Old Testament law to judge, ostracize, punish and condemn. WWJD?

Yeah, you can't discriminate. Note that tolerance does not entail acceptance: Go ahead and plaster your store with the scripture to which certain of your customers should be exposed, in your view. Trumpet your disapproval of the sinners as loudly and publicly as you like. Just don't discriminate. It's not that hard.

This would knock any state back in to the 18th century. Since Atlanta's economic engine towers over Indiana's pure and simple, the unintended consequences that would result, like threatened boycotts over the state flag, is a no brainer. But others, like civil lawsuits or worse, violence, can also be imagined. Every time the legislature meets, their are wastes of time like this bill. Time to stop and get on with dealing with laws that solve problems, not create them.

Who gives a f**k? The hysterics would be comical if they weren't so annoying. Salesforce.com and Apple should take a look at human rights abuses in China before they start complaining about a bill that mirrors a federal statute signed into law by a Democratic president in 1993. This bill will not change a thing in Georgia whether it is passed or not.

Sounds like a fabulous reason to round-file it and focus on something useful!

Wrong. If you dig deeper than the name of the bill, you can see that Indiana's version is different than the federal one, and also different from most of the RFRA bills in other states. https://inadvancesheet.wordpress.com...s-controversy/

The effect of a hate-based bill disguised as liberty is obvious here. Indiana's irresponsible choice to find some nifty way to circumnavigate the U.S. Constitution has resulted in people with common sense understanding what their new law really entails. They tried to fool decent people and those decent people responded by showing that the power of people can and will allows be stronger than the typical old white men who still want to run this place like it's the early 1900s. Not much to worry about because the old white men will eventually pass on and hopefully be replaced by more modern thinking leaders. Now if we could only get the other 63% of the voting population to show up to the polls we might see some actual positive change. Until that happens, we'll still see these type of asinine choices being offered to the world. Segregation of any type is immoral and you can't disguise discrimination when there are people who know how to think for themselves.

It doesn't seem possible to "get it" without reading and understanding what people are writing. "Hate" is acting out in the public arena against others on the basis of bigotry. "Bigotry" is treating others differently because they live their lives according to their own beliefs and values, within their own skin, within their own families, and within their own worship, instead of kowtowing to your insistence that they live their lives in accordance with your beliefs and values.

And the problem you're having understanding the example is that you're refusing to allow yourself to see how the tyranny of the majority that you defend does something comparable albeit not as vicious (at least not anymore).

Actually it is a very good example, just one you're not willing to acknowledge and not willing to consider deeply enough to bring yourself to admit the corrupt nature of what you defend.

Behaving in a manner consistent with an understanding that everyone should live their lives in accordance with their own beliefs and values, instead of behaving in a manner shaped by your expectation that others live according to your beliefs and values, does not require your agreement with their beliefs and values, just your acceptance that the world is not obligated to array itself to your personal preferences.
Actually I read ever word of your superfluous recital of your university indoctrination. I simply chose to focus on the subject of the thread.

Dominionism? LOL The problem with a lot of the "enlightened" is that they presume to know ANYTHING about someone simply because they state an opinion on one topic.

If you want to talk about drowning out other voices, try being a public figure and merely stating your own belief that marriage is between a man and a woman. We all know the kind of media feeding-frenzy that would follow. On the other hand, there is an annual gay parade in every city of decent size in the country, gay magazines, gay networks, etc. Gosh! This tyranny really risks having its tyrant card revoked.

A business owner NOT participating in a marriage that they believe is wrong in NO way requires others to live accordance my beliefs or that business owners beliefs. Plain and simple.
