TSA lines at Hartsfield-Jackson winding through terminal | AJC@ATL

This is insane. Absolutely insane. Normally I'm not a fan of privatizing public services, but I will make exceptions for terrible service such as this. This is more than just a hassle--time is money, and it costs the metro area a lot of money every day to have security lines be longer than some lines at Six Flags.

I agree they are too long. I just wanted to add....

Part of the problem is how much space is wasted to the new Dog sniff area and they fact they want people continuously walking through that area and not standing when it is in use.

Wow! I have never seen it that bad before. Actually...with all the times I traveled, the line never went past the checkpoint area. Is this something that is happening often now?

Very good question. To anyone who's been to the airport lately, how many security lanes at the main checkpoint remain closed?

I think I'll buy a cheap wheelchair for my upcoming flight so I can sail through all this nonsense.

Without knowing the time of day it's hard to know whether this is unusual. I've observed the line going through the atrium many times; I posted a picture of it happening in the other TSA thread just a few weeks ago.

With that said, ATL security lines are definitely horrendous. I'm flying out in a few hours; I'll report back on whether lines are unusually long for Friday afternoon.

My knee jerk reaction to the south checkpoint being closed is it shouldn't matter; the Atlanta security issues are a staffing problem, not a facility problem. There are typically numerous closed lanes in the main checkpoint during the afternoon.

The lines looked like this (maybe worse?) when I flew back to school from a week or so of vacation time at home. There were 5 (I think) of the 18 lines open. It was ridiculous.
