She has a budget of $35,000, the Corolla is the car you buy your daughter to send off to college which she gets rid when she starts her career.
The OP introduced the idea of the Corolla herself (which makes you sound like even more of an idiot for criticizing people about the Corolla). She also wants a new car that she will drive for the next 15 years.

You have not read the thread. OP has been driving Honda's all her life; now at 55 she is thinking of switching to Toyota. She's not going to buy a used Mercedes or BMW so why don't you join another thread or create your own thread on used cars that lines up with your thought process. You are not adding value for the OP to make a decision.

I bought 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross L for $34k out of the door. I feel I may have paid more than I should Got the color I wanted. I went to 3 Toyota dealerships and not many choices and I don't want to focus on car year-around.
Now it is done and I don't want to think about it.

Thanks everyone!

Congratulations. Good choice. I strongly recommend taking it back in every 5,000 miles for an oil/filter change and tire rotation. That will keep it in tip-top condition for way more than 15 years. (Manufacturer recommendation might be for a longer interval, but it's not all that expensive and certainly won't hurt the thing.)

Due to the pandemic's supply pipeline issues, new cars are in short supply. Some dealers were charging a premium for new cars. So whatever you paid is probably what the market price is.

Enjoy

According to the vehicle history reports, newer Subaru's are even more prone to have head gasket issues.

I think we covered a lot. We shouldn't have to point or dig up stereotypes about those who drives certain brands.

These aren't legitimate news sources. The Atlantic isn't yellow journalism, but it's biased and trades in senational language & headlines with a decided moderate-left bent. Interesting to read, I'm sure, but not a reliable news source. It scored about 67% of newsworthiness.

The name "Vaping Underground" speaks for itself.

I've seen many Subaru commercials over the years. I pay attention because I like the Forester and used to own the first model. (How would anyone know if I'm a lesbian...or how a commercial is made to appeal to lesbians, anyway? I'm not a lesbian, fyi.) Even the Atlantic listed four other groups Subaru ads were made to appeal to. The Atlantic article then added some language about lesbians & that it was a fifth group. So even that article doesn't claim it was the sole or main group. Just ridiculous thinking, esp considering that that would be a pretty limited demographic to market to.

Every single commercial I saw was geared toward outdoorsy types (guys, families going to the beach, etc.) and to dog owners and soccer moms. Dogs appear in many Subaru Forester ads (that I've seen).

But if you have an example of a widespread Subaru ad targeting lesbians, please post it.

My fave Subaru ads:
Hockey boys, With the Pogues https://youtu.be/FedJKZuqFfg

Soccer dogs https://youtu.be/JFOPVphSUfo

If you search Youtube, you'll find LOTS of ads w/dogs. Love 'em all!

You know what? I think you got the best deal that you could, so it's a good deal on a good car. Buying a car right now, used or new, is a challenge. I really think you'll be happy with your choice. Toyotas are very reliable, I love them

I'm also female, so once you get over the sticker shock, try to familiarize yourself as much as possible with your car. It's harder now with all the electronics, but I have tried to do as much maintenance as I can myself. At the very least, learn oil changes, filter changes, topping up fluids, how to change a tire, if you don't already know that.
