PEOPLExpress (singular-not the commonly used but incorrect plural) was way ahead of its time. It was basically a prototype version of what's common today like Spirit and Allegiant.
Its down fall has been thoroughly dissected and documented over the years and it's generally agreed that had they stuck with their original model (flying to secondary and tertiary cities like Albany and Fort Lauderdale) as opposed to going into places like Chicago and Miami and *NOT* having purchased Frontier Airlines, they would probably still be around today.
To all of you who have done this as well, I know you'll grin.
All others, won't have a clue....

Did there used to be ( or still is) a Bahamas Air? We once flew from Nassau to Exuma on an older 2 engine plane. I have not seen anyone mention that or Air Jamaica.

I guess that's why I refuse to fly airlines like Spirit. From what I've seen, minimal savings with a cattle car experience.
