Lots of free stuff to do in the summer here and you will feel safe allowing them to explore on their own.
Copsgirl73 & Delta07 , Thank you for the + rating for July, we are coming later in the month and not staying in my preferred location because my wife wants the teens to be near the Old Mill area so they can be walkable to events there. It should be a good family trip and the first for the teenagers, glad I won't have to be the shuttle service for them, they can bike or walk most places, except our road trips out of town.

Looks like my kind of weather there today almost exactly the same weather here in the east coast.

Great trip over to Sunriver this week.

Reason number 11 for not moving to Bend would be, the Stars shine so bright they distract you. Had a great stargazing party.

Reminds me I really want to drive out at night and see the stars. No doubt better than the humid light polluted low elevation night sky here in the east. Any observatory's or recommended locations not far from Bend? Hopefully no big wildfires in the region this year.

It is a gorgeous day here! Just got home for the Earth Day events downtown. My husband played in one of the bands.

As far as stargazing goes, head to Pine Mountain Observatory. It's about an hour east of Bend off of Hwy. 20. The stars are absolutely amazing out there. Make sure you bring a warm jacket, hat and gloves with you though. Even in the summer, it gets really cold out there! My FIL froze up there in August even in a down jacket.

We will be there during that time, thought there might be things going on. Have to do a little work on our property as well, but that is good news.....

Thanks Delta, I will google Pine Mountain, glad your having such beautiful spring weather. Seems you have some dreary, chilly spring days yet many gorgeous ones too!
