Anyone who purchased a home in Boston area should support the bid LOL
Housing in Beijing has been 3 times more expensive than 10 years ago.

That's due to a property bubble (and has happened in all the major urban markets in China), not due to hosting the Olympics.

Regardless, I am not sure anyone in their right mind would want Boston's RE prices to inflate three times what it is now.

I remember when Boston hosted the Democratic National Convention earlier in this century. Bostonians expected a windfall from consumer spending, but it never happened. The delegates never left the convention site ( The Garden)..

Not just a bubble.

Beijing is like DC + LA + Boston of China. It does not only hold the central government, but also has the best universities, research institutes, and the largest entertainment industry. Therefore, Beijing has the largest number of rich people.

Quite true. Someone told me they were itching to get their hands on any new housing development that would have come with the Olympics so that they can rent it out for high rents thereafter and make a lot of money. Still, there is word that some housing development on the site might still happen even without the Olympics. Demand for housing is still great in Boston and will continue to be so at least in the near future.
