Nashville is not a place of opportunity though. Its just somewhere where people like to go for 3 days to party.

A better comp would be Austin

Nashville doesn't have a good economy? Ita a booming fast-growing city with really good metrics...
It grew by 21% in a decade. I find it very hard to belive that its not a place of oppurtunity.

What your saying runs counter to every thing I’ve read in Nashville from Forbes to Money Magsine to everything. From all I’ve read it has a wonderfully diverse economy from tech, automotive, banking, healthcare and publishing.

It’s been named one of the top cities for professional/white collar jobs many many times over.

Not to the scale of Atlanta and what it is for black people. At all.

Its where people want to move, theres a lot of jobs moving down there sure. But thats where we draw the line.

Its not the 'white version of Atlanta' where white people move to Nashville to do better than they did elsewhere.

Austin, Seattle, SF, Denver all fit the bill better.

But for a lot of Black people Atlanta is THE party and music industry place I think the same could be said for white folks in Nashville. I know a black woman from Nashville (by way of a Jackson MS) who moved to Boston recently…. she always always calls Nashville ‘White Atlanta’.

I think SF is out for various reasons.

I really don’t see a big difference between Nashville, Austin, Denver I think it’s all pretty much the same thing but Nashville has the most notable party and music industry scene and is in the same geographic region as Atlanta.

Really? Almost all my black friends call Nashville "white Atlanta".

But yea 'Boston doesn't have a black middle class like those cities' lol. The bias is crazy. Whats crazier is people are 99% sure they are right.

Add to this Boston currently has a lower black crime rate than any of these places.

The US Attorney, Rachael Rollins
The Attorney General to be, Andrea Campbell
The Sherrif of Suffolk County, Steve Tompkins
The DA of Suffolk County, Kevin Hayden
The Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice for Massachusetts, Kimberely Budd
The Boston Police Commissioner, Michael Cox
District 7 (majority of Boston) US Senator, Ayanna Pressley

Former Governor, Deval Patrick

Massachusetts as the Lowest Black Incarceration Rate besides Hawaii.

You could actually do this for a while.

Massachusetts ranked as the 2nd best state for Black Women by a black travel site

Boston was ranked as the 2nd best metro for Black Women in the US after Washington DC according to Essence Magazine.

None of this will make SNL, but you will hear about how someone cussed Kyrie Irving out a few months ago after he trashed the city, stomped the logo, gave people the finger, and called the fans a bitter ex girlfriend.

One of my friend's from College in NYC is Kyrie's cousin. Absolutely nobody in the family likes him. So not only does Kyrie have a trash attitude, he's actually a pretty trash person. This is when he was playing for the Celtics I learned all this, so before he insulted Boston like a salty two year old, I hated him beforehand. Oh well...

Is Atlanta still the "it" place for black people? Not saying it doesn't still have a large appeal to many black people. I just know a lot of people that have moved there and were not impressed by the opportunities. Has the metro reached a saturation point of diminishing returns?
