Yeah when I moved to TN in 2009 my tags were ....... $24.00. This year they are ....... $24.00 including a truck which in CA costs even more. Cost does not have to go up if all they do is update the registration and send a license plate decal.

That's best case scenario and we already know that from history. Slush fund.

After reading that the gas tax--that we weren't allowed to vote for--isn't even totally going to the roads, I wasn't really surprised to see a post from Senator Jeff Stone, who's on the budget committee.

They're voting on what to do with the $2 a pack cigarette tax--the one that I think we voted in to pay for tobacco-related illnesses.

They voted to use the money instead for health care benefits for illegals.

Not surprised.

Check all the other states & see how much they charge. Ca will be the highest in the nation. Anyways....according to the dmv the car tax will not be imposed until 1/1/18. So ill worry about the extra 25 bucks next nov 2018. Most of the money the state will be getting in gas & car tax will be going toward other things. Ca ranks #49 as the worse roads in the united states.

No, I checked and it will not be the highest in the nation, Pennsylvania's gas tax will still be higher and so will Washoe County Nevada.

I don't know about you but I don't want to pay 12 cents more for anything, ever. Especially when the original money wasn't used correctly. It's like when a friend asks you for $100 because he needs new a tire to get to work. And then you later find out he bought beer, lottery tickets and got his flat fixed. A few months later the friend comes around and asks for another $100.

That's funny. You didn't mind paying $2 more when Dubya was president!

That poster must be embarrassed since you proved him wrong with one state and one county with a higher tax rate.
