Yep, spend and tax aptly describes the Liberals' financial rape inflicted on the citizens of this state.

It was close but canella was bribed so that's that. For some reason I cant rep & haven't been able to in months. My tags expire mid November 2017 so I will be hit with a $25.00 tax on my 32 yr old car (my tags are currently $83.00). I never thought I would see the day when I would be paying over $100.00 for a old car that I drive less then 3k miles annually. I have a neighbor who for the past few years has been driving his truck with valid AZ plates. He is saving a bundle & no smog test.

Arizona requires emissions inspections.

Actually crazy as it sounds there was nothing illegal about the way he negotiated to get enough support for his gas tax hike. Such negotiation is allowed. Nobody got cash money. The people that he was able to flip simply said we want something in return for the votes. So he gave them the money to pay for whatever project they had in their district.
This type of negotiation is done in every level of our government from city to county to state to federal. You ever wonder how you get a republican or democrat to vote the other way. Offer them money. Politicians are whores.

I do agree with

i would love to hear them say "we should all pay our fair share". Because that sentence never gets old. In plain English that translates to "we're going to pretty much empty your wallet"

And members of both parties believe what they are told and vote the same people back into office again and again and ... nothing gets better. Ideology dampens cogent thought.

If my California car is outside the state... as would be if my teen went off to college... I can get the emission waived for the time the car is out of State...

Second scenario is vehicle age... California smog tests 1976 and newer... how many other States test emissions on 42 year old cars.

The husband of one of the nurses I work with was stationed here in California... their vehicles are Florida registered as is allowed for active duty military... still caused issues and even a court appearance for her to prove they were a military family... Judge dressed down the police officer.

I took my oil burner in for a "smog check" and the guy just signed the papers without looking at it. He stated a visual inspection is pretty easy as he watched me drive in without excess. I asked about checking for modifications and he said they don't care about it on a visual.

Talk about a shake down fee.

He should have looked at it to see if the Cat was was original equipment, if it was a replacement he was supposed to check the number on it with the ARB database Your smog guy took a big chance, most of them won't do it. BAR does random checks of smog shops all the time and if he's caught they will yank his license and the shop owner will face a 10k fine.

I don't know where in AZ his car is registered. I am very sure the emissions test is nothing compared to ca.
