If you have traveled a lot between the USA and Canada, and talked to Americans (and Canadians who are honest with themselves) you would know that many Canadians and Americans have huge chips on the shoulders to each other. They are also, mostly, as different personality-wise as night is to day. Most Americans see Canada as UK-lite, in that there is anti-Americanism there, but not as overtly as in UK. But Most Americans don't care that much, and tend to look at the issue with rose coloured glasses: ie "...Some Americans are just too sensitive.."...."UK, Thailand, ______ is much, much worse..."..."Probably just being typical arrogant Americans, and the Canadians were just firing back..." Americans don't want to be ungrateful immigrants, and want to get acceptance in Canada. Many Canadians are just very cold, and jealous of the USA's success. Or any country that is more significant.

Interesting viewpoint that you're certainly entitled to express but how does that jibe with Canadians not being jealous of China, Russia, the U.K, Germany, perhaps even France and not showing the cold jealousy towards those countries you ascribe to us? Hmmmm.

I'd opine that most Canadians would agree those countries, among others, might be more significant within the world political scene than Canada, given their history and accomplishments but you never hear Canadians expressing angst over it do you? Wonder why that is, if jealousy is the motivator as you suggest?

Could it possibly be that Canadians reserve that ire for one country in particular. That being the ONLY country that is constantly proclaiming it's "significance" to anyone and everyone?

Could that be it?

From traveling across the U.S, Not many Americans give much thought about Canada to develop a hatered or a chip on our shoulder.
Traveling through Canada though, you do hear more people and their thoughts about the USA, our politics and our current events.

Its not just a US-Canada thing. Pretty much the same can be said of the relationship between New Zealand and Australia, even thought they are 2,000 km apart.

To add/
I'm sure the vast majority of Americans dont care about Canada, never been there, know nothing about Canada and never give the country a moments thought.
Canadians on the other hand are sitting next to 350 million Americans,a demographic whose issues are broadcast over all our media outlets and all the American media outlets we are subjected to so its rather a natural occurrence that Canadians are going to be much more opinionated on American issues than Americans being up on Canadian issues.
So its also natural that some of the opinions expressed by Canadians are going to cover the range from negative to positive, taking a particular negative Canadian view on an American issue isnt a strong enough point to then label all Canadians as hating all Americans,IMO

PS We do have some interest on what goes on in the USA.
