Living in the hotbed of the problem, it gets sort of a meh. I don't really see any difference. Illegals come because there's opportunity. The US economy would collapse if they were all suddenly deported/disappeared. Illegal aliens are the slave/underclass that greases the wheels of capitalism. There are programs in place that could end the vast majority of illegal work tomorrow, E-verify. But, it's an optional program, and strangely a large number of employers who have a lot of menial jobs don't use it...I wonder why?

Funny thing is if climate change does end up having its way, the sunbelt cities could be as hot as parts of the middle east desert and we'll see a reverse migration trend some decades away.

But where do the Canadians migrate to? Not the red states.

How is the air in Houston compared to Calgary? Doesn’t it settle around your ankles in Houston?

I don't get the joke. Sorry. It's hot and humid v. cold and dry.

Mostly to the red states they migrate to and also Cali. Our winter home in Arizona has tons of Canucks that fly south for the winter.

the answer is more and better jobs in the USA and much better climate.

Canucks migrate where there is no snow. Hollywood Florida is their winter breeding grounds.

The main destinations are the larger metropolitan areas that have good growth rates. Some are in red states, some not.

By my experience the main draws are the BosNYWash corridor, especially Boston, NYC and DC.

Also Houston and Dallas. Seattle. The Bay area and any number of other places in California.

Also Florida in general.

Maybe the Chicago area a bit too.

I remember reading that Texas actually had the highest (or one of the highest) population of Canadians in the US. Texas is mostly a red state. Isn't Florida also traditionally a red state? Florida is another popular state for Canadians to move to.
