LOL. Yes, it happens, but I believe we can all agree that we approve of firearms in the hands of folks who are competent with using them, and that criminals might be less apt to steal from us if they are aware that homeowners are armed.

I did state in good health and average size. I can't know about your shoulder, but I do now.

I didn't know I would need to attempt to explain so many things at once.

And yes there are some bad guys who will stop on sight of an armed person, but there are other Doubting Thomas's that won't, so before you use lethal force you must be certain you are willing to use it.

Very true. What surprises some folks is that they actually have to practice shooting. After all the gun can't do too much on its own.

Speaking of which I really need to get some range time in.

Me too but it is so muggy, my powda would turn ta' sludge.

There is little head set that might let one shoot at paper knowing it is paper, then when what ever is alive (wild game) some people just have a bad time, The problem grows when the defender knows there will be legal ramification, and the stop may cost someones life.

I don't care how a great a crack shot anyone is, it is all another deal when it is 2 leggeds, and then it only means you have a 50/50 chance.

The day before yesterday out weedin' from the corner of my eye i saw a big black thing. The day before that I saw the 9th bear of the season less than 4 miles from here. The bear before that was right here, so I was shook up, and swore since that was all i could manage.

Well it turns out, I swore at the dammned dog. It lives here too. Dogs and whiteman are always sneakin up on us injuns.

Yeah where else would i be? I ain't lost ya know, but I did get lost just once. I am parked right heya' 15 miles south and west of the Kanc.

I only go south fer wild wimens and cold beer's.

Last year Aug 1st I hit a jeep cherrokee after 9pm that hit a moose. After 9pm it's dark here. I busted up the ft fender on my bike fer that. But that's all I busted up. I got a very good mc angel huh?

Uh oh, see what I mean. I am gonna catch it fer this infraction.

I got a plan this Aug 1st to be at Lac du St Sacrement with other riders. That would be Lake George Ny to most sane people.

I was a passenger in a land yacht that drove the Kanc in a blizzard back in the late 80s so I know how unpredictible that road can be. The driver was a real horse's azz. He thought that that it was more direct to head up Rt93 to Loon then go across to Conway (our destination) than it was to go straight up 95 to 16. Talk about being terrified. All you could see was snow. There weren't any other cars on the road though we did tuck in behind a plow about halfway across.

I'm thinking you have a few angels watching over you & pushing those dang tourists & critters out of the way.

I had to leave the computer yesterday right after my last post and only returned a little while ago. I was sad to see the misunderstanding between you and Ani, though it looks like you two worked it out

I wanted to expand on what you said above about being certain you are willing to actually use lethal force before you ever arm yourself.

This is the first question any person considering becoming a gun owner has to be brutally honest with themselves about.

While I completely support the right to bear arms, the truth is some among us are just not up to the challenge. If guns "scare" you, or if you know for sure you could never live with having to take another life, then you are not up to the challenge.

Those not up to the challenge are dangerous, and in danger, when in the possession of a firearm, they're better off with a guard dog

I've noticed that about a few folks. Its a shame that there's no way that these folks can get together & devise alternate ways of protecting themselves that won't leave them defenseless & will give them other avenues of defense. Dogs can be a great deterrent. My dog for example will kick up a major fuss before it tries to lick the thug to death.

Guns are a great equalizer especially for ladies. But for those folks who shun them there need to be alternatives.

Pepper spray?

I have a neighbor, an attractive woman, who recently traveled to visit relatives by driving alone 15 hours.

I asked her if she traveled with a handgun (as I myself always do). She giggled and said, "oh no, I'm afraid of guns! I just trust God to get me there safely".

I looked at her and said, "Well, God rides shotgun with me everywhere I go, but he and I are BOTH packing heat!"

Seriously, I never underestimate the power of God - BUT, I also believe God expects you to use the good brain he gave you and protect yourself when possible
