OK, I was about to delete 72 posts in order to keep thread about Charlotte movement but had a change of heart. I respect each of you giving time to voice your opinion debating this movement.

The last mod note was 323 posts so it time for a reminder.

Lets keep this thread about the Charlotte movement. There is tons of threads across this CD that meets discussion of OWS.

This movement lets keep political discussion in Politics forum, national in the General US forum, and this thread discussion on Charlotte and its related topic.

Since this a bank town and movement is related to that in this city lets keep discussion to that please.

Sunny - this brings to mind a question I have for the group: There are a relatively small number of occupy protesters here in Charlotte, and the "movement" here in Charlotte has not a focus of national attention as have been groups in cities like NYC or Oakland. So what, exactly, does this small band of people in uptown Charlotte hope to accomplish?

Ok they have turned a new low by burning US Flag.

At General Assemby

"Those were actions taken on my own behalf," Alex Tyler said at a camp meeting. "I did it to display my utter contempt for American greed, not (the military)."
Burning a U.S. flag is not against the law, but police said the four were charged with careless use of a fire because they didn't use a fire pit.

Alex Tyler, 19, of Fort Mill, Jason Bargert, 28, of Charlotte; Michael Behrle, 23, of Matthews; and Stephen Morris, 20, of Matthews. Bargert has been identified as a spokesman for Occupy Charlotte.

I recognize Bargert. He works at Vis-Art video or was as recently as last month. Most of the Occupy movement are distancing themselves from these guys. Not that I think burning the American flag is egregious (it's just a symbol). But for the most part it's a silly waste of time.

First thought, deport these morons if life has become so pathetic for them or close your eyes and let some of us war veterans give them an ole fashioned blanket party.

Secondly, everyone with poorly functioning exhaust systems should park on the road as close as possible to the "occupy" nutjobs and let their engines idle so we can see what the fumes are capable of doing.

It's ironic to me that on the Trade St. side of the old city hall there are parking regulations but there are no regulations for camping out on the property.

As far as the flag burning goes, I'm sure the city council is still happy with their decision to put off regulating camping on government property not designed for such activity.

What a bunch of punks! 19 years old think he knows so much. Guess what he knows nothing. Seriously these four need to be taken around back someplace and be beaten with a bar of soap in a sock.
