The bible reflects the barbaric nature of the writers and not a perfect God.

What Job feared most was G-d, and G-d is what came upon him. Peace

The problem is, you don't know the depths of His love, you think it's just an oohy goohy emotion like that of man, and what looks evil to you (as Omega brought out in his post), is not when G-d does it. For one thing, His love is NOT an emotion to begin with, it's a Spirit and whatever that Spirit says to do is righteous regardless of what it looks like in the appearance realm we live in.

Here is what living and dying in this realm is to G-d. He breathes out (we are born here), He breathes in (we leave here/die). The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away; blessed be the name of the Lord. Peace

Another good point. The bottom line is, regardless of what it looks like in the appearance realm, G-d is a pure motive. Peace

When I saw the word "Bible" in the topic, I knew there would be a lot of protest. It is very offensive to some people.

Bible on a forum swarmed with fundies to my mind, means doctrines of men passed of to be the word of God.

Yes, some people run on pure emotion, and what sounds good and correct to their human ears. God ordered the Amalekites taken out because He foresaw what would happen if they were allowed to be around. Sure enough, Saul failed to fulfill the order, and the future Amalekites tried to exterminate the entire Jewish nation.

Have you, Finn, Vizio or Ohmyomega ever read the scripture that says love your neighbor as yourself ?. Is that the oohy goohy emotion you're talking about ?. The problem is apparent with you fundies .... You don't love yourselves because you think God looks upon you to be worms, so you see the rest of the world how you see yourselves.

So, God had no other recourse than to have the Israelites barbarically slaughter them? How about the old fashioned turning them all into pillars of salt, or the old standby sending of plagues? These are no more silly than a supposed omnipotent being dependent upon the actions of lowly humans to do his bidding. So, now we have average individuals (I assume) defending murder and genocide. And, people ask what is bad about religion.
