I would have definitely just assumed that Cali has more Asians than NY because of the Coastal plain being pacific & the shear percantage of the coast it takes up.But I actually lived in W.Covina for a year & was like where are the Asians??.From that experience alone I would say NY has more but then when I visited San Fran forget about it ...LOL Cali wins.

I'm double quoting for emphasis.

They say that because they are NYC.
They are the greatest at everything, of everything, at any point in time since the dawn of man.
All medical, scientific, industrial, technological, cultural, social innovation has occurred because "they" have existed.
Fire, mathematics, religion, politics, architecture, cognitive function, evolutionary transformation, gummie bears & video games only exist because of the 5 boroughs.
Come on man........................... Keep up.

LOL fire huh...yeah I thought everybody new there the reason we have fire.

Well, NYC as a whole is 12.7% Asian, with the borough of Queens being around 22% Asian. By comparison, LA is around 11.3% Asian (city limits only), Fresno around 12.6%, SD is around 16%, Oakland at 17%, Sacramento at 18%, San Jose at 32%, and San Francisco at 33%.

I think NYC could hang with our cities. However, it would be important to note more than half of NY area Asians live in NYC, while most Asians in CA live OUTSIDE their respective city limits.

Most of the Asian people who live in West Covina are Filipino, a lot of whom get confused for Hispanic all the time because of our darker complexion and mostly Spanish names.

If you went West though, towards places like Rosemead, Alhambra, and Monterey Park, or south towards Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights, Walnut, or Diamond Bar, those areas are EXTREMELY Chinese/Chinese-Vietnamese (not just by a small margin either, literally the MAJORITY of those areas)

They both seem more North American than Asian to me. But I haven't had a geography class recently.

There are a bunch in the 5-10% range and smaller communities like Lansing, Gang Mills and some others that have high Asian percentages.

70% of this board thinks that you need to cross the river grandee to get from ny to nj

I just voted for California; yes, Queens, NYC has a strong concentration, as does NYC in general, but the concentration in upstate NY is virtually nonexistant; in California, it's from San Diego all the way past San Fran ( and really, up to Portland and Seattle, and eventually, Vancouver)...

In CA, the Asian presence is PALPABLE..

Sure, if that makes you feel better... dump on the West Coast some more

Either way: sorry, CA is definitely more Asian - both in demographics, and in cultural influence - than NY. You can include NJ in that, too; it doesn't matter. California still wins. Don't worry, you guys still have better Italian food, and hot Puerto Rican girls Don't freak out about it... it's all good.

^^ no hate. i like cali -
i've never felt overwhelmed by asian culture in cali.
obviously, the demographics are the demographics.
