i voted for new york
finally, someone who's got a clue. not to mention that LA hugs the coast north to south. upstate ny state takes up 80% of the land mass and its all inland.

cali people have no idea about states being close. like ct, ma, md, pa nj, dc, va

i know. i've driven in cali. you can drive for 300 miles and only see cali plates. can't do that on the east coast.
same people who think nj has nothing to do with nyc

I'll be nicer here too!

WOOOHOOOOOOO GOOOOOO NorCal and SoCal!!! Keep on running things and OWNING this competition!! Hell yeah CALIFORNIA WOOOOOOO!!!!!

Northern CA FTW!!! Look at it destroy the other two so bad it makes them look like Asians have never even heard of them! What do NY and NJ stand for again? "Not Yellow" and "No Japanese," was it? I don't remember b/c they don't even come up on the radar. CA OWNS! YEAH!!!!

NorCal and SoCal both have Asians all over the place instead of NY or NJ where they're in like 2 neighborhoods! thats why i think NorCal and SoCal wins in this comparison; more Asians EVERYWHERE!!

I voted for CA, then I voted for NorCal, then I voted for SoCal, then I voted for CA again!

The fact that CA as a whole has double the number of Asians than NY and NJ combined makes it pretty obvious, especially since you're the one who insists that percentages mean nothing and only the hard numbers matter.

...and nearly all of them came through Angel Island in San Francisco before heading on their way to New York. San Francisco's Chinatown is older (1848), and was the first Chinatown in the US.

No, but it still pales in comparison to CA's Asian-American history.
No no no, weren't you paying attention? Percentages only mean something when they favor New York. Otherwise they are meaningless.

Oh, and agreed regarding your last line. It looks anemic in comparison.

No, they don't. That's EXACTLY what the breakdown in numbers disproved.

Man, its amazing to hear the things people see through the lenses of denial. Smh.

Ahh, but NorCal still has less people than NY/NJ so that doesn't make a difference, does it? So if you made NY and NJ into NorCal's size you'd just have a less-dense version of the same thing with NorCal still having more Asians. What are you even talking about here? LOL, nice try.

Again, nice try. 100% wrong, not even worth the effort of correcting. You might as well be telling us that Guam was who attacked us at Pearl Harbor. Check your facts. Lol.

Wrong. That's another lie. Please quit trolling.

Wrong, AGAIN. Filipinos share their roots with Malaysians and Indonesians and are about as much "Pacific Islanders" as the Japanese and Taiwanese are. East Asians are not the only Asians. And you're obviously only pretending to be Asian so you can perpetuate these arguments seeing as this has to be explained to you.

Whoops! Almost responded to the rest of your post until I realized how idiotic it was. We all really need to stop falling into your little traps here.

I will give you credit tho, you are saying just the right amount of nonsense to keep us coming back to correct you. I will give you props there.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LMFAO!!!!!!

The one dude who has spent countless time proving he doesn't even have anything resembling a clue finds his like-minded twin here in this thread as this new dude spits lies and alienates himself from anyone sensible! This is too hilarious, but in a truly sad way.

This is proof positive that the movie Idiocracy is a documentary of the present.

Well you can't expect us all to be as correct and knowledgeable as you always are man. That's just aiming too high.

BTW, for the 400th time, who the hell have you EVER come across isn't aware of your small states being close?? You've never even actually listened to anyone from CA in your life, have you? SMH.

Well I imagine in CALI you probably will only see local Colombia plates. However, in CALIFORNIA what you're saying is complete BS. Try actually driving over here. I actually do and have my entire life. Not a day goes by that I don't see at least an Oregon or Nevada plate, let alone all the rest of the states and Canadian provinces as I have out here. But what do I know, I've only lived here my entire life and you had a whole little vacation.

And lol @ some clown using the term "Cali" like this is the 80's still while faulting us for supposedly calling the NE "back east." How ridiculous. Lol.

:
i have driven there. i've been to cali over 5 times spanning over a month

90% in LA (rented a car) and 10% in SF (rented a car)

aside from an occasional HI or AZ, UT plate, its overwhelmingly CA. my cousin who moved there wanted to keep her NJ plates to keep it real

But... you don't mind including South Asians i.e. Indians, Pakistanis, Bengalis (who are conveniently generally better represented proportionately in your region than in CA), even though they are even less like East Asians than Southeast Asians in terms of genetics, religion, and general culture?

Quote:
vietnamese are just a subset of east asians (which are more plentiful in ny to begin with) and the rest of southeast asia isnt where power in asia is.
So, it's a power issue now, is it? LOL. So, countries like Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, etc. don't really count as "Asian" because they don't have the power that China, Japan, and Korea do? What are they, then?

Quote:
really, most of asia is in east and south asia, which are plentiful in ny in equal numbers.
So, now you more or less are saying that there are two groups of Asians who are relevant (one of which I have this strange inkling you belong to...), which just so happen to have better representation in the area that you think is unequivocally untouchable, even when confronted with the fact that you're not ahead here.

Either way, CA has 1.25 million ehnic Chinese; NY has 576k. We have more than double what you do. You have 140k Koreans... we have 452k. We also have 273k Japanese (East Asian by your definiton)... you have *cough* 37k. Yeah, you guys are pwnzin' the East Asian population... haha.

Quote:
in cali, there are barely any south asians, which doesnt
make it truly representative of asia.
There are about 588k Indian Asians in California, and 606k in NY and NJ, so you have about 18k more... so... I guess that 588k is "barely any," but 606k is an "absolutely adequate" number?

And if we are to take raw numbers into account, you guys barely have any Southeast Asians - 49k Vietnamese between both states, versus 591k in CA? 1,195,000 Filipinos here vs. 215k over there?

Yeah man. We own the Asian-American diaspora, regardless of how you want to define who is really and "Asian," and who isn't.

Quote:
ny has it all in terms of asians, latins, africans, europeans, etc. etc.
Yeah we just have more Latinos and Asians than you

I lived in NYC for a couple months, and also lived in Albany for a couple months. That's right... Albany. BTW: Bombers Burrito Bar on Lark Street sucks. I've never had a wore... "burrito" in my life *shudder*. However, El Loco a few blocks away was some of the best Mexican I had in the Northeast. Try the bananachangas.

Quote:

I lived in LA for a bit over five years, and in SF/Oakland for 3. I (own) a car, and have driven up and down the coast as well as up the 5 between SD, LA, SF, up to Redding/Eureka and further up to Oregon and Washington many, many times. Not only have I spent more time here than you ever have (or likely will), but I've also killed many more sets of tires and brakes out here than you have.

And FTR, coming from MA, I know what it's like to drive from the airport in Providence, through Mass, and into NH in a little over an hour. I've been all around those states. It most certainly is different from CA, but it's not like you gain some sort of grand mystical insight into the cultures of the world by driving from one New England state to another, and then through into a third in less time than it takes to watch one of the Lord of the Rings movies.

Good for her. I see plenty of other plates from PA, NY, MA, etc. around here - peoples' companies send them out here to various regional offices.

You know what's funny? Every time I'm in NYC, most of the plates I see are overwhelmingly from NY... I wonder why that is

I'm surprised this thread is so long!

It's obvious California is more Asian than New York overall. That being said, New York does not have any sort of shortage of Asians. We have plenty of strong Asian communities of various ethnicity, and all are vibrant and growing. As an Indian who has lived in both San Francisco and New York, one thing I must say about the New York/New Jersey area is that there is noticeably more diversity within the Indian community here than there is in the Bay Area and especially LA.

The Asian community overall in the US is growing. Strong Asian communities and great Asian cuisine are no longer limited to California and NY/NJ anymore like the once were. I've seen vibrant and diverse Asian communities in many cities in the US, and I've had Asian cuisine in cities like Houston, Philly, and Chicago that was just as good as the best stuff I've had in New York, Jersey, LA, and the Bay.

Anyways, I still expect California to lead the nation for many many years to come as far as the Asian population goes.
