Ahhh let me stop frontin. I already knew that I just felt like stirring the pot for a little bit if you know what I mean.

I had this conversation with theresident09 back in November about the 2013 GDP metropolitan area thread.

But seriously now, seeing that the 2013 GDP numbers for the following CSA's:

3. Washington-Baltimore-Arlington, D.C. ($641.731 Billion)

4. San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland, CA ($632.5 Billion)

and

6. Boston-Worcester-Providence, MA (479.9 Billion)

7. Houston-The Woodlands-Sugarland, TX ($463.7 Billion)

It is fair to say that the Bay Area will surpass D.C. to take the number 3 spot and Houston will surpass Boston to take the number 6 spot in 2014.

When will these people realize the Bay Area is one entity. Shared media outlets, shared sports teams, shared mass transit. Even the DC/ Bal can't claim that.

Most of "these people" are Houstonians who never seem to comprehend that multi-polar metro areas can function as one entity. DFW area posters have to deal with this issue all the time on the Texas forum.

Multi-polar LOL is there medication for that?

It does get confusing trying to figure out which identity we're dealing with during any particular discussion sometimes. You seem to be saying we are one yet different at the same time. So if they are treated as one then people will protest that we are different and it seems to oscillate to the convenience of the poster depending on which identity serves him or her best in this particular discussion.

There are differences contained within all metro areas whether they are bi or multi-polar or not so quite acting like you have "special" circumstances that only those who live in such areas could ever understand. If you want to be thought of as one cohesive metro then fine but accept the limitations that will bring to many of your arguments

This tends to lend both ways. People will use one identity to discredit or ignore altogether a multi-polar place when they see fit. Then use a second definition of a place to discredit it a different way.

And what limitations are those? Houston is a sterile city with zero identity. I here these threads about Houston closing in on Chicago in population and overtaking it in the next decade or two. If it takes 600 sq miles to do it whipty doo. I don't see people knocking Houston that it took annexing large amounts of land to get those numbers.Houston needs to contend with Philly, Boston and Dallas before it can move up to the Big Five.

LOL The big 5 ? talking about somebody searching for an identity. And the Houston metro is 5th according to the US census and the Houston metro economy is the 4th largest metro economy in the US. You conflate media identity with importance, just because you hear more about Dallas doesn't mean Dallas is of greater import than Houston. Try to look beyond the football and TV images.

As far as not having an identity You don't know what you are talking about, We know exactly who we are named after, can Dallas say the same thing, NO! go back to bed man..
