Sedona, closer to Phoenix than Taos is to Denver

Keansburg, NJ (town in the northern Jersey Shore) or Pawtucket, RI?

Keansburg for the beach access and proximity to metro NYC amenities.

Sheridan, WY or North Platte, NE?

Sheridan. Both are too isolated for my preference, but there is no denying the scenery and outdoor recreation opportunities in Sheridan.

Louisville, KY or Salt Lake City, UT?

Louisville. Even though Utah liberalized its liquor laws in order to land the 2002 Winter Olympics, it's still much, much easier to get a good drink in Louisville, and the barbecue gap is even greater. Besides, the city has loads of character and a Frederick Law Olmsted-designed parkway belt system that's almost as good as my hometown's famed boulevards.

St. Louis, Mo., or St. Louis Park, Minn.

I would take St. Louis over anywhere in the Twin Cities region.

Abita Springs, LA or Redding, CA?

The state politics in CA are repulsive, but Louisiana isn't exactly much of an improvement in that regard, so I'll take Redding for scenery and weather.

Newport, VT, or Alpena, MI?

I wanted to not pick CA, but after looking at Abita Springs and the distance from NOLA, I think we'd just be far more comfortable in CA. I wouldn't mind exploring that region of Norcal anyway.

Edit: I was too slow. So I'll take Alpena. Just seems a little more comfortable and familiar to me and I've always wanted to give Northern Michigan a try.

I know I asked this one yesterday, but I got two replies so I now need a tiebreaker.

Norfolk, VA vs Columbus, OH

Columbus, OH. Larger city and more things to do. Better schools as well.

Hartford, CT or Boise, ID?

Hartford, because CT > ID. I can't say that Hartford excites me all that much, though..

Cedar Rapids, IA vs. Kalamazoo, MI

Give me K-zoo. Michigan is OK if you can handle the winters (which I can't ), but Iowa is no better in that regard.

Montauk, NY or Vashon Island, WA?
