Sewanee, TN, easily. Looks like such a cute town with hiking trails, trees, mountains.

Carmel, IN or Carmel, CA?

Carmel(-by-the-Sea), Calif. Besides the fact that Clint Eastwood was once its mayor, it's not a highly leveraged Instant Urbanist fully-realized-from-the-start fantasy but rather a fantasy that evolved more or less organically over time.

Lawrence, Mass., or Lawrence, Kan.?

Yuma... more diverse population and less than 3 hours from San Diego and Phoenix.

Albuquerque, NM or Tucson, AZ?

Albuquerque because I love NM and it's not as desert-y.

Knoxville easily because I like East TN a lot, and have no desire to be anywhere near NY or NJ.

Huntsville, AL or High Point, NC?

That's a tough one. I like Huntsville as a city more than High Point, but I like High Point's location better. Since cities don't exist in vacuums, I choose High Point.

Jackson MS or Amarillo TX?

Jackson, MS just because Amarillo is too isolated.

Fredericksburg, TX or Hendersonville, NC?

Portland. East Coast > Desert Southwest. Portland seems like a nice charming little city.... beautiful scenery is close by. Vibrant downtown.... other neat cities and towns are within easy driving distance. Nothing appealing about Tuscon in my book.

Manteo NC vs Cape Charles VA.
