This is a good matchup between two evenly matched small cities. The livability stats between them are about as dead even as I've seen between any pair of cities.
For me, it pretty much comes down to location, and Alexandria wins this. It's just more centrally located within the South and closer to everything that's more familiar to me.
Santa Fe was going to be my trip this year. I had whole Central/West/Southwest loop planned, with Santa Fe as the highlight. Well, after getting my vaccination, I'm going next year! And I definitely pick it now. Even though Flagstaff is really nice and I have good teenage memories of it.

Sand Springs for slightly cooler weather year round and because it's in the superior Tulsa metro area.
