San Diego. If I'm going to be in a ridiculously overpriced city in a dysfunctional state, give me perfect weather and gorgeous scenery. Also, I'd rather be next door to Mexico than Canada.

Iron Mountain, Michigan or Berlin, New Hampshire?

Berlin. It's bigger. Cedar City, UT or Rutland VT?

I'm picking Rutland because it's been a long time since I've been in that beautiful part of the country.

Wichita, KS or Texarkana Ark/La/Tex

Texarkana. It's smaller and is surrounded by woods rather than plains.

*Edit - I spoke too soon. Streetview reveals that the Wichita area has way more trees than I would have expected. I'd still pick Texarkana though. Warmer winters.

Carbondale, Illinois or Cape Girardeau, Missouri?

Well, both are in pretty areas. Carbondale is full of drunk college kids. I've always wanted to go to Cape Girardeau and have never made it there, so guess I'll pick Cape Girardeau just to finally go there.

Salt Lake City, UT or Davis, CA?

Salt Lake City, UT or Davis, CA?
SLC, easily. Don't want to live anywhere in NoCal.

Lincoln, NE or Des Moines, IA?

Lincoln. I like that it's a college town and it's got a lot of good, Catholic stuff that I like.

Hot Springs, Arkansas or Cold Spring, Minnesota?

Hot Springs has such an interesting history and is in a pretty area, though the town itself is looking pretty shabby these days. Cold Spring is near St. Cloud, which is one of the few not-so-nice places in MN. Think I'll pick Hot Springs for it's history.

Within the Los Angeles Metro:

The Fairfax District or Canoga Park?

Fairfax... would rather live closer to the action than out in the valley.

In the NYC metro:

Long Island City, Queens or Park Slope, Brooklyn?

It's been a long time since I've lived there - is Queens cool now? I pick Park Slope, because it's close to my nephew.

Alpine, TX or Cooperstown, NY?
