Scottsdale. Very close to Phoenix, 2.5 hours away from Flagstaff (heat relief!), and better scenery all around in my opinion. Something about UT doesn't meld with me.

Austin, TX or Colorado Springs, CO?
Austin is a better city, but I'd rather live in Colorado, so the Springs it is. The Springs is in a gorgeous setting.
Cleveland. At least it's not as ghetto as Detroit, and it's actually got a lively downtown.
Sacramento or Austin? (For those of you who don't know, Sacramento is not on the coast and their summer temps average in the low 90s--20+ degrees hotter than San Francisco). Sacramento is also on a flat, low-lying river valley, unlike other California cities which are surrounded by hills.

I'd rather live in Cleveland as well. Both seem to have emerging and revitalizing downtowns, but Cleveland seems to have more neighborhoods of interest.
For Sacramento vs. Austin I'll go with Sac because of nearby Lake Tahoe and Bay area, I'd prefer Austin as a city though.

Las Cruces, NM or Duluth, MN?
Duluth. I like its cityscape, cold weather and snow, and the accent in that area.

Charleston, WV or Asheville, NC?
Asheville. Beautiful area with a lot to do for an area that size.
Roanoke, VA or Lexington, KY?
