Also, what about intangible metrics? Has Boston ever beat NYC in any civic achievement?

Chicago has multiple times (World's Fair, ORD busiest airport for large chunk of 20th century, Sears Tower tallest building for multiple decades).

Yes, those are historical things but they show Chicago has the capacity to be a peer to NYC in ways that Boston hasn't proven itself with either NYC or Chicago.
Boston has better universities and hospitals than New York. It has a better tech scene. It’s actually just overall a wealthier city and metro.

Also the CTA does go into at least 3 other towns (Evanston, Skokie, Cicero)

Oh, so you ARE thinking of River North (hotel, residential), rather than the Loop business district.

The relationship to Boston and Cambridge/somerville and other urban suburbs is completely seamless and relevant in this conversation
Would you even know if Boston did best nyc?
You do know the first public transit system in the USA was built in Boston in the late 1800s before nyc

First public university in America was Harvard and Boston beat out nyc in most things secondary education for its existence to today

Bostons healthcare (hospitals and associates research institutions) has been superior to nyc and chicago for decades. Today nyc boasts some very good hospitals making this more of a conversation than in prior decades.

Boston beats out nyc and chicago today in biotech and beats out chicago in all things tech

Comparing Chicago to Boston is an insult. I’d say even Philly or Detroit or Memphis is more influential than Boston, it’s like the Frankfurt of the USA. Big, but bland and cultureless.

Chicago is leagues above Boston and comparable to NYC, London and Paris, It’s a big, wonderful city and has perfect weather and culture.

This is true. Additionally, the metro area (CSA-basis) GDP of Boston and Chicago were neck and neck in 2020, it wouldn't be surprised if Boston is now ahead of Chicago in that regard.

Greater Boston has 8.4 million, versus Chicago's 9.8 mil and NYC's 23 mil. The only place Chicago is closer to NYC is if you plopped someone in the downtowns of each of the 3 cities and asked them to compare visually.

Just went to NYC again this weekend for the 1 millionth time

Only reassured me there is no possible way Chicago is closer to NYC. It’s basically a country.

Chicago is muuuuuuuuch smaller. Muuuuuuch smaller. Everytime I go to Anyc I’m just reassured of the massive insurmountable gap between the 2.

And again look at CSA GDP they’re virtually tied Bosotn and Chicago, aside from that they’re closer in population and so on.

Yea the more I think about it and visit CHI and NYC the more clear it is they’re nowhere equal. Like in any respect. Maybe land area?

Seriously? It had the first subway and there was a small public works project called the Big Dig? You may have heard of it? Boston Common- Americas oldest public park? Boston Public Library Americas first public Library..the first HOPE IV high rise housing project restoration happened in Boston..not in Chicago. When the Hancock building was built in Boston it was taller than any building IN Chicago…

But also yea it bested NYC on several other civic achievements like the first community health care center, first voluntary city-suburb integration program, first public school, first college, first printing press, first police force? First school built for black children and maybe 40 other things…

This has gotta be a joke. How many first does Chicago even have over Boston? Your perspective is massively warped. When you actually attempt to answer you own questions and do some cursory research you will see the truth of the matter.
