L.A is experiencing both city and region growth just like Chicago did for 60 years. L.A's growth was quick and is already slowing down. Soon, L.A itself will hit a cap and eventually the region will too.

Chicago's metro area continues to grow fairly quickly, and the city saw growth for the first time since 1950 in 2000. Yeah, they current estimate has it once again dropping, ask most people from the city and they'll tell you that couldn't be more wrong. The city is putting new housting units up everywhere. In 2010 I wouldn't be suprised if Chicago's population was something like 2,999,000-3,000,000.

By the way, if those people from Chicago went home, your region would experience population decline :O.

Chicago's a better city than L.A by nearly all accounts. L.A just has weather going for it. If you need conformation, look at the poll (until someone decides to rig it (dementor))
AND OF COURSE this post made absolutely no sense.

There is a difference between a city slowing down and slowly growing (population steady) per year and there is a difference between a city DROPPING 150,000 in population during the census period. Even when accounting births in population figures CHICAGO DROPPED 150,000!!! Thats insane!!! yikes!

The way people actually vote with the feet is more telling than a stupid city-data poll rigged by the hundreds of bored midwestern trash who have nothing better to do than post here and vote these stupid polls all day. as ive said, I can pull up actual polls of the most desirable city to live and Chicago is always at the bottom. No wonder the population is declining so badly! Nobody wants to live there. Why do so many Chicagoans move to LA but LA people barely move to Chicago?

Because of the Californian debt lifestyle. It takes money to move.

i.e. because California is better and all you midwesterners do is dream of California. Californians don't ever think of that dumpy region.

why can't you guys stop moving here? the population is high enough. I know its amazing and all, but stop dreaming about our state and stay in the midwest.

I would have to go with Chicago. It's more of a "euro" style "real" city, with great public transit, a dense downtown, and walkable 'hoods

there is nothing European about such an ugly city like Chicago. I don't think you've been to Europe if you think any of their beautiful cities are anything like Chi-town.

Well, 1st off, I wasn't talking about architecture, althoug I do think Chicago is a very pretty city. I meant it was kind of European in lifestyle.

I can't say I took it personally, since I'm not Mexican but f.y.i., Los Feliz is a neighborhood in LA that you could only dream of

Considering how Latinos are the primary catalyst for Chicagoland's population growth-I'd say you owe "Jose" a thanks as well.
