I'm thinking we're going to have to sell a couple of states to China to pay back our debt. We could probably get a lot for California because of it's coastline, plus we'd be losing a state that costs us a lot, too. And then there is the Hollywood actor and San Francisco factor that make it seem like they're not part of the US, anyway, by choice plus pre-existing Chinese American spots within the state that might appeal to the Chinese. They could build a Great Wall between California and Mexico, too.

I'm thinking Hawaii might appeal to the Chinese geographically speaking and might bring a good price.

Those are my two picks. I'm going with states we could sell.
I love your idea of selling a few states...LOL....

Woods, fresh water, and livestock can easily be found in NY state and in parts of NJ (havn't you heard about the Paterson fall mills to produce electricity)... your argument is a complete utterly failure.
NJ alone has some of the best education and school in the country, and it is known for having some of the best medical systems. NY is on a good scale as well when it comes to that topic.
so
If you chose NY and NJ to be out, then so be it, i don't care. But together, these two states would be extremely powerful as a region...
They'd be very rich, and without the the two states in this country, the country would be in extreme debt.
I am aware of that and it is great, however, the population of these two states is so large, how much will be left over for others after they comsume what they need? I totally agree with you that they could possibly support themselves as an independent region.

Everyone has their moments in life, but are you talking about the president with the alcoholic wife who couldn't get safely down the stairs of a plane, or the other president with the alcoholic wife who managed to get the entire world to hate Americans?

Texas due to the fact that they couldn't hold the Alamo and South Carolina to increase the standards of living for all other Americans. I am all for trading Texas to Mexico for a free one week stay at any Mexican hotel for all US citizens. As for South Carolina we could just start banishing citizens who break the law to spend the rest of their miserable lives there.

Would bring a whole new meaning to "TexMex"... LOL...

To show my good nature I have another reason "to loose" my home state of Florida: Catherine Harris and also...well heck Florida is just hanging/dangling off the continental U.S. always "limp".

Ok?.. So because LBJ's wife was an alcoholic, his contribution was irrelevant? Why don't you skip the pleasantries and ridiculous statements and say you're annoyed with Texas because of Bush II? Not all of Texas is bad, and just because some Connecticut carpetbagger affected a faux Texas accent and fooled the rest of the country into voting for him, the fault cannot be squarely placed on the ample shoulders of my fellow Texans. Texas didn't put him into the White House alone.

In the spirit of blaming particular states for W's very presence, I'm going to "loose" three states.
1) Connecticut - For being Bush's birthplace and residence for much of his youth; it is the very place where his particular ideologies were likely formed
2) Florida - for being the decisive state in the 2000 election
3) Ohio - for being the decisive state in the 2004 election

Oh hell, let's just get rid of every state that had anything to do with Bush. There, that'll solve everything. Rather than mend the fences and kiss the boo-boos from the damage wrought during the past eight years, let's just banish anything and everything that had anything whatsoever to do with it. If a state voted more than 30% Bush in either election, they need to go! Right? That'll solve everything.

My post contained two out of the four things I know about Texas. The third is the night I stopped in a gas station north of San Antionio and there was some wierd migration of black beetles walking through the station. We actually threw a crate outside to stand on so the beetles couldn't walk up our legs. The other is I loved Wolf's Chili. For many years, I considered it to be the king of canned chili until they changed the recipe and substituted ground beef for shredded beef.
My choice for states to loose is NY ad NJ, but not TX.

Even with the ground beef, it is the king of chili. I've even had it shipped to me when I've lived out of Texas in areas where it was unavailable. I can't eat a hotdog without it.

Though I didn't vote in 2000, I apologize anyway.
