There is no clear cut definition of what southern is. Southern can be a wide variety of things. I think there was a thread about this.
There has been hundreds of threads about this. Every thread about the south turns into this. I really don't understand why we can acknowledge how diverse evey other region is but the south has to be one giant piece of work. It's not just people from elsewhere, many southerners try to diictacte who and what is and isn't southern as if the entire south is just like their little section.
Thats exactly what I was saying earlier, your not going to go to DC or Miami and see white dudes driving around in muddy pickup trucks with confederate flags hanging from them etc. so in that sense neither city has "southern culture". If though you do include black dudes that wear dreadlocks and things like that then I guess they both do have "southern culture". The whole term "southern culture" needs to be defined a little better.
Uh. You're not going to see this in Houston, Dallas, New Orleans, or Memphis either.
