Doubt it I think its the Hotel rooms.

get over it. Orlando has the attractions. Walt disney picked Orlando over Tampa. Stop bringing it up like Orlando doesnt count because it has attractions.

Wow, you need to chill out dude. If there is one thing I hate on this forum, its people putting words in my mouth. I never said Orlando didn't matter. I just think that Orlando overshadows Tampa sometimes, and its not always right, especially since Tampa is the bigger city. And btw, Disney picked Orlando because it was inland, not because of Orlando was anything special.

I know thats why he picked Orlando.. It was inland so less prone to hurricanes, and he also wanted a smaller city. But 700,000 thousand more isn't THAT much more, esp because its mainly all in sprawl. When I'm in Tampa it doesn't feel like I'm in a bigger metro than Orlando, it feels the same. Heck I feel like I'm still IN Orlando when I'm in Tampa, they are very similar. But they are both in the 2 millions, they don't feel much different when it comes to size. Miami does.

Even so, Orlando's attractions are the reason why Orlando is more 'culturally relevant', and why its picked for places like major conventions and TV shows. And from the point of view of a Tampa native, its kind of annoying to see a city slightly smaller overshadow it. Not to say I don't like Orlando and im not glad for there success. But look at it from my point of view. I have relatives that live up north that I barely see. They call us and tell us they are coming to Florida and want to see us. We think, great, then they tell us to meet them in Orlando

Well the Hotels do attract many conferences that has nothing to do with the attractions so I'm going to say No although it would be competitive .

The attractions brought the hotels, which brought the conferences. So in a way, the conferences do have something to do with the attractions.

Thats why I said No. It is hard to tell what would make up for that GaP IF THE TOURISM SECTOR WAS NOT THERE. But it is so I mean hey we live off what we have.

Other then being vulnerable to a recession, there is nothing wrong with having a tourist based economy like so many people claim. I wish Tampa was had some more attractions so my relatives from up north wouldn't rather visit us in Florida, instead of us visiting them in Florida
