UCF is better than USF in nearly every ranking (not that either is great)
UCF is one of the largest universities by enrollment I believe #3 so thats something.
Rollins is better than UTampa in nearly ever ranking (not that either is great)
Rollins is consistently ranked one of the top party schools though, so I guess thats something.
The Orlando Fringe Festival is one of the oldest and largest fringe festivals in the world.
Tampa was inhabited first but became a city after Orlando.
Orlando convention center is significantly bigger.
Tampa Aquarium is great
Orlando has Seaworld though.
Tampa has more sports
Orlando has more amateur sports
Tampa has higher population
Orlando has 2 Fortune 500 Companies
Tampa has 2 Fortune 500 Companies
(Orlampa aka Lakeland has 1)
Of those Fortune 500 Companies though:
- Orlando is ranked 49 and 311
- Tampa is ranked 199 and 328
(Orlampa is ranked 99)

The top Fortune 500 company in Florida is in Orlando and is worth 43,604.4 million while Tampa fortune 500 combined are 11,684.5 + 6,878.2 = 18,562.7 (these numbers are in the millions). So Orlando obviously wins the business side.

Tampa has the gulf coast (sadly in bad condition)
Orlando has unaffected natural springs

best post.

I wasn't including 1 time events, the events I listed are all relatively permanent with the exception of Fortune 500's which is by nature always fluctuating to some degree.

Who cares about the Florida Film Festival, and what exactly is the Orlando Fringe Festival? Why does the size of a convention center matter? What amateur sports are you referring to?

The thousands of people who come to Orlando for the film festival care about it. Its not just about the size of the convention center, but the size has a huge factor of what conventions Orlando gets. Orlando is a top Convention city for a number of reasons, like the size of the convention center (2nd largest), the large amount of hotels around the convention center and all the attractions that already bring millions of people to Orlando are also near by. This makes Orlando a top Convention city, thats why it attracts a number of huge national and international conventions, shows, etc every year.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and pretend you're not just being an ass so here is a genuine answer:

The Florida Film Festival is one of the Big 15 film festivals in the nation. If you win at the Florida Film Festival you qualify for Academy Award Consideration. As a result its also one of the largest film festivals in the nation.

Orlando Fringe Festival is a 100% uncensored, unjuried, and cheap live stage festival. It is the largest and oldest Fringe Festival in the nation.

The size of the convention center matters as much as any other topic on here matters. The same could be said about any topic for any city. Oh NYC has the most people and the most public transportation, why does that matter? So I'm going to ignore this part of your question as being pointless.

I am referring to all amateur sports. Between the Convention Center, Attractions, Weather, and Disney Wide World of Sports we get some of the best in the world. This week is a huge Martial Arts Festival, the AAU has Volleyball, Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, and Wrestling competitions here this month. There was a huge Fitness Expo at the Orange County Convention Center last month with Bodybuilding, Powerlifting, Arm Wrestling, MMA, Karate, and Strongman competitions taking place.

Does she plan on connecting TPA with downtown, or even Tampa to St. Pete & the beaches, because that would be a good investment that would cater to both your business & leisure markets. Although she needs some cooperation with Hillsborough & Pinellas officials to make it happen I suppose.
USF, downtown, and the airport will all be connected. I think they are planning on a line running from TPA to DT St Pete, but not the beaches. From some of the articles I have read, there seems to be good cooperation from Hillsborough and Pinellas and the cities too.

Eatonville was one of the first black cities.

Rollins College was established in 1885, University of Tampa wasn't established until 1931.
The original building was built in the 1890s when it was the Tampa Bay hotel.

Given the choice of just these two cities...I'd definitely go with Tampa because it has a relatively more "vibrant" central core.

Yes we have the Gulf, and it has been devistated by oil... over one hundred miles away. You make it seem as if oil is washing up in Tampa. Its not. The beaches here look the same as they did before the oil spill. And we also have springs here too.

Well if people are making lists of why they think there city is better, I guess I will too.

Tampa has the largest port in the state of Florida, along with the largest amount of trade and tonnage of cargo
Tampa has Macdill AFB, headquarters to Central Command, Special Operations Command, Special Operations Central Command, Marine Corps Forces Central Command, Africa Command. Basically, the only place more powerful then Macdill in the Pentagon.
Tampa is part of the Tampa/St Pete metro, 3rd largest in the south, behind Atlanta and Miami.
Tampa has more history. You can bring up Eatonville, but when I typed it in google images, there really isn't much to look at.
I can drive all over Tampa and not encounter a toll road.
One thing Tampa has that Orlando does not is a Casino.
Tampa has the Florida State Fairgrounds which has a very large amphitheater and hosts many conventions and of course the fair.
Tampa has more waterfront, with the bay, rivers, many lakes, and the gulf not far away..
Tampa has more pro sports teams.
Tampa is not infested with tourists. I know they are good for the economy, but lets face it, tourists are very annoying.
Tampa has better parades. Gasparilla and Guavaween are awesome.
