ya gotta love midwesterners....they like to pretend the only "sports towns" are chic,nyc,boston,philly... and deny the west coast simply because they cant fathom to think anything is better where fans dont have to sit out in freezing temps to catch a game.

Jerry Rice + Joe Montana = who else in chic?

Barry Bonds=??? in chic

Raiders following wolrdwide=?? "da bears"? lmao nah...

A's= More world series titles han the scrubs ..i mean cubs

why is it ok for a team like the scrubs to consistently suck, yet they are supposedly a "storied franchise that has a loyal following" ..

yet the pirates suck...the reds sucked for a long time before this year..they have followings, but the chic natives pretend their scrubs have done so much in the last 100 years and act superior to those smaller markets..its funny

Hahaha, the Bulls are barely four decades old and the only times they've even made the finals were for the championships they won in the '90s. They aren't even the greatest in their sport, being surpassed and probably lapped by the two teams playing in the finals.

The West is far too young and is populated by too many transplants for your teams to have the same kind of following that teams east of the Mississippi river enjoy. The Cubs have been around since 1876, the Phillies since 1883, the Cardinals since 1892, and the Yankees and Red Sox since 1901.

Walter Payton immediately comes to mind.

You've got to be kidding me. The Raiders aren't even the most popular team in their own metro area, let alone CA. Maybe among gang members and avid pirate aficionados, but not anywhere else.

And yet a good deal of their games still get blacked out from lack of attendance. So sad.

Perhaps because Chicago is many times larger than Pittsburgh and Cincinnati combined?

Does this somehow negate the fact that Michael Jordan is the greatest pro athlete of all-time or that Chicago is a much better sports town than SF/Oakland/San Jose/Sacramento put together?

How are those related? I disputed a specific claim and you drag all this other **** into this. Learn how to have a proper discussion.

Both Chicago and San Francisco are equally great and offer so much. It all comes down to personal preference, as one is not any better overall than the other. There are just way too many Chicago vs. Bay Area threads that usually end up in 20+ pages of obnoxious Chicago and SF boosters arguing about nothing.

Of course, asian people are the most dedicated students in the world, and SF is a borderline asian city.

SF has just as many Hispanics (22%) as Asians (22%). And many of the Asians in SF are poor immigrants from rural China with little education.
