In 15 years we've had 49 threads with the word FIRE in the title and most of them have nothing to do with wildfires or forest fires or woodland fires or wildfires.

Proper use of the search tool with the word FIRE will find any or all of our fire threads on the first try.

It was obvious from watching the videos of the fire that it's dry there. With climate change it's likely to get a lot dryer. Which is all the more reason to put a end to this type of shoddy construction, and bury all the power lines. The only thing that stopped this fire was the wind dying down and the cold temperatures. It destroyed over 500 homes in one day. If not for the weather cooperating this fire could have burned for days or even weeks. Think about how many homes would have been lost in that scenario.

We got 5 or 6 inches of Sierra Cement in the latest round, which I finished shoveling yesterday. Snow was falling earlier tonight but has dwindled...for now, at least.

Some IDIOT was shooting fireworks, guessing a mile or two away. Hard to tell in this terrain and the heavy cloud cover. I hope the vehicles I heard after that were deputies going to nail them. The fireworks often come from the same direction, so LE must have a good idea by now where to go. If the idiots start a fire, I hope they burn to death in it.

Unlikely those who start a fireworks fire will burn, unless the wind reverses.
Our local fireworks caused wildfire burnt 50 miles of the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area. Wind changed 3x and fire burnt back over itself 2x. Fortunately, not total destruction, and in 40 - 60 yrs will recover 60% .

Very light sentence for the accused, but no deaths.

Sympathy to all in NoCo digging out of ashes and snow.
Tragic for the region.

Our CO home ranch burnt in 2020, along with many others.

Not good news, and summary of destruction:

Three people are missing — and presumed dead

Quote:
Three people are missing — and presumed dead — after the Marshall fire swept through Boulder County, authorities said Saturday, a day after they said all missing persons had been accounted for and that no one had died in the disaster.

The Marshall fire, the most destructive in Colorado history, burned across 6,000 acres on Thursday, torching as many as 1,000 homes. At least 991 destroyed structures have been identified so far, and more than 100 structures were damaged.

Here’s the breakdown by area so far:
553 were destroyed in Louisville, 45 were damaged
332 were destroyed in Superior, 60 were damaged
106 homes were destroyed in unincorporated Boulder County, 22 were damaged

“It’s not final, but it’s very close,” Pelle said of the destroyed and damaged count.
