Wow, Indie Grits as really developed a reputation for itself. This is definitely a feather in Columbia's arts cap.

The Columbia Museum of Art is quite the intimate performing arts hall.

Well, thankfully the wasteful spending of the three Certus executives who are no longer with the company wasn't uncovered on the day of the Columbia office's opening. Columbia's is the first office to open since the new leadership was put in place.

I wish they would have torn that Lexington state bank building down.

I think they're doing a good job with the remake. Buildings like that reflect an era that will probably be appreciated one day. They're putting windows in the bottom two floors to make it an obvious four-story building and they're adding modern character to the facade and side near the front. The stairwell on the back corner is cool, too. I think it will make a nice downtown Columbia headquarters for a smaller regional bank.

But that also makes it harder for developers to have taller buildings if more space is needed since they landmarked the building and it is not very esthetically pleasing as with most of the boxes on in the CBD. And most of the smaller buildings are landmarked and the rest of columbia is under design or height limits so I don't see anything new being built for a long time. That's me looking at it from a business perspective and I love history but that building is not really history.
