That whole stretch from exit 5 to exit 9 is awful at all times of the day.
Speaking of exit 5, it may have gotten mentioned already, but the town of Greenwich/state of Connecticut/whoever fixes traffic lights on US roads needs to do something with that traffic light..........................fast! I'm not sure what they can do, since its like a 6 way intersection (the exit ramps from 95 north & south, the entrance ramp to said highway, that side street off the left where the McDonalds entrance is, and of course route 1 all get seperate lights). Since the exit ramp from 95 south to the street isn't very long, if your coming off the highway, and just miss the light, your gonna be stuck there for quite some time, which causes a backlog of traffic which causes a backup on 95, because the people in the right lane are going 0 MPH because they've been waiting 10 minutes for that light to turn green. That exit, and exit 41 off the Merritt southbound (only during rush hours I've noticed) are the only 2 places I've ever seen where a traffic light at the end of an exit ramp causes a traffic jam on the highway.

Did anyone else see it? I have a view of 95 from the office in Stamford. For a while around 5:30pm today there were no cars going South due to the highway being shut down for Obama's motorcade. A rare sight.

Traffic was still backed up both ways between Stamford and Norwalk at 7:30. Thanks Mr. President!

I'd like someone to help me understand why Metro North was halted for approximately 45 minutes. The President and his staff weren't transported by train.

Lines were a morning issue... In the evening the stoppage was "police activity related" at Stamford.

No issue with Metro North related to power by mid afternoon. The POTUS' visit was to blame for evening commute woes.

Obama's visit causes traffic backup, train delays - StamfordAdvocate

"Metro-North also announced that trains between Stamford and Greens Farms because of "police activity."

"As the situation evolved throughout the day, we worked closely with Greenwich and Metro-North officials, and are pleased we were able to bring the rail service back before the evening commute," said Ken Bowes, vice president of operations in CL&P's Emergency Operation Center.
