Snow forecast totals tonight into tomorrow.. Should start after 2am. Not sure when heaviest will be. Probably around 5-8am? Over by late morning then snow showers around again like today.

Spring put on hold all week. Yikes. And next week more cold coming.

To give an idea of the rarity of snow in the coastal parts of this area this time of year......BDR only recorded a trace and their record for the date was just 0.5" in 1955! For LGA and JFK, which also recorded a trace, it was the first time snow was EVER recorded on April 3 (EWR tied their record of a trace set on this date in 1978.....Central Park had a huge 10" storm on this date in 1915 with their longer record). Islip on Long Island actually recorded measurable (0.2") and broke their record of a trace set in 1992 (granted, their record only goes back to 1986)

Tomorrow's tri-state snow records:

Central Park - Just 2.5" in 1957, but not likely to be broken (you never know though)
BDR - 2.4" in 1957 (maybe broken?)
LGA - 5.4" in 1957 (not going to get broken)
JFK - Never snowed on April 4 (I'm finding that hard to believe vs. LGA's record though, JFK airport existed in 1957 under a different name and recorded weather, I think that's an error)
ISP - Never snowed on April 4 (see short record above)
EWR - 4.1" in 1957

If anyone knows BDL's record snowfall, please post, I was going to but BOX's climate site is very simple now for some reason and seems to focus on recent day to day recordings.

Snow is few hours away. Radar looking juicy! Following the flow of the orange lines so coming from the NW this time.

Why couldn't this pattern happen in December? Or January?

Choose "Record Snowfall", then change calendar to April 4, "2015"... you'll see all the snow records for all the stations for that date.

3.1" is BDL's April 4th snow record. Interesting. Could be close.
1.8" for Albany

Actually link goes direct to map. Cool

IEM :: Map of Daily NWS CLImage reports
Brings up another good point, if Albany totals 3.4" or more today and tomorrow they go down to 2nd least snowy winter.....

No snow reaching the ground in Wilton or South Norwalk. That looks a little heavy on the radar to be virga though.

Well, there is some delays out there, mostly north like Danbury and environs but notably Trumbull delayed

Funny I put the news on when I woke up to see snow and clogged roads all over. Pull the blinds up to see an overcast sky and not a thing. No rain, no snow, nada. Cheshire next door has delays, so odd.
