Well, yes and no, it seems we keep approaching or breaking records of number of days, number of days in row, etc of lows over 70 at least on the coast year after year since 2000. I won't go there but.... (but I'll agree this hasn't really happened to high temperatures, we've actually had LESS super heat in the upper 90s and over 100 than in the mid-late 20th century so I don't know....).

eh...its early august..hottest most humid time of the year. Not saying it doesnt suck but its expected. If this was early September I'd more in agreement. Its just like when people complain on here in early January that the weather sucks wind chill in the teens (comparable) ..the natural response is..well its January!

Even early September will see days in the 80’s and 90’s. It’s only in October the cloud cover starts to increase and temperatures remain in the 60’s.
It is uncomfortable without AC. I think that’s the problem here. With AC I don’t really mind the heat as much. I just stay inside.

Anecdotally even October isn't safe in recent years. I think it was two years ago on Columbus Day when it was 85 and humid as hell. Columbus Day is what I consider the end of summer until further notice. My pool stays open until the first weekend in October. It's really not until after the leaves are off the trees that we start getting consistent cool, crisp fall weather. A tease here and there in Sept and early Oct.

Last year NYC had their first 90+ October day since 1941. But the weirdness of all 90+ October days there speaks to how it's so hard to tell what's "random", what's "somethings going on", etc. They had 5 other days of 90+ in October, they all occurred between 1927 and 1941, and to make it even more odd, all but the 1927 one occurred in a 4 year stretch from 1938 to 1941 with each year except 1940 having one (1941 had two such days in a row).

Even with the days of 70+ low temps in a row, apparently such streaks were almost as common from 1870 to 1920 as now (but with a lot more lows in the 50s and low 60s in between stretches) and then we had several decades where while they still happened plenty of times each year, but were not as long term without at least a brief "break". For example, every July in NYC in the 1970s except 1971 had at least one day with a low in the 50s, but they haven't had a July low in the 50s since 2009 (longest stretch on record).

The point I was making is in early August this weather is expected. Sure it can happen in September ...even October...but it would not be the norm or expected at that point. Thusly, complaining about it at that time of year would be justified.
